Getting to some new product releases here at Offcut! Starting with this nice little single-serving size of our classic Patchwork Shelf. Includes one (1) perch and one (1) peg - to display a couple of special items, or to hold your keys and coat with style.

If you’ve gotten to know Offcut in person over the last few years you know Lesley. In 2022 we started to work together on the idea of using our shop scrap to make new stuff, and over the next few years we designed & built 100+ unique pieces, and tried our best to build a brand around it. She also saw right away that we could use this concept to branch out and build community around woodworking & design - and we hosted scrap sales, workshops, found homes for piles of extra material in student shops, worked with and met a bunch of great people, put on some holiday shows & made a lot of scrappy DIY candlestick parts. This year Lesley moved on to pursue other avenues (among which the incredible @littlecraftschool ), but her talent & spirit are in the DNA of Offcut.
We have been on a bit of a breather but Offcut will get back to making new products, and finding ways to get our scrap wood in the hands of people who will use it. Stay tuned this year -

This Saturday! We are excited to host a group exhibition of scrap-made design, the latest in the ongoing partnership between Offcut and SAIC—an evolving dialogue between education and industry, student and studio, idea and object.

𝟯𝟵𝟱𝟭 𝗪 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝘃𝗲
A collection of lamps that explore the duality and tension between opposing yet complementary qualities. Created by students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in collaboration with Offcut, the exhibition investigates “sweet” and “savory” not only as flavors, but as metaphors—emotional tones, aesthetic gestures, and material contrasts.
We will be serving drinks and snacks of both sweet and savory variety. Hope to see you this weekend!
It’s that time again ...
Spring (almost) cleaning at the shop means we are getting rid of a lot of great material. Some other stuff this time too - tools that don’t get much use, hardware from old projects, supplies and misc woodshop items that need a new home.
Of course we’ll have a ton of great hardwood to sell - scraps, boards, slabs, you name it. Plywood and other material too.

PLYWOOD STACK STOOL IN GREEN

The Plywood Stack series makes use of our ever-present pile of smaller, odd-shaped plywood scraps to create side tables - layers of plywood are glued into a solid stack and then carved to shape with a chainsaw. This allows us to repurpose large amounts of waste material in a simple way - repeatable, but a little different every time. These little pieces are solid, durable chunks, but they also bring a sculptural presence and a pop of color that makes a statement in any room.
HAND PAINTED WIGGLY CANDLESTICKS

Groovy little squiggle candlestick holders made from the long, narrow strips in the scrap bin. A round base adds stability and a two toned painted finish makes the textured faces really pop.
