1. Staying up too late the night before.
Nothing will give you a better glow than a perfect night’s sleep. Whether you have a welcome dinner or you’re just checking on the details before your big day, sacrificing your sleep is not worth it. The wedding day is long but will fly by so fast, so make sure you are well rested to enjoy it the most.
2. Not taking a 10-minute break after the ceremony.
You just exchanged your rings and said your vows, let that sink in and don’t rush it. Stay with your partner one-on-one for a couple of minutes before you go celebrate with your guests. Hot anxiety girlies, you will thank me later.
3. Trying to be perfect hosts instead of celebrating your day and absorbing the feeling of a new beginning.
Hire planners, coordinators, or delegate the things you want to run smoothly to your toastmasters, bridesmaids, or groomsmen prior to the wedding. You are having your dream wedding once!
4. Not planning or scheduling time for family photos.
Family and friends that you invite to your wedding are dear to your heart. Don’t miss the opportunity to take gorgeous family portraits when everybody is looking their best and is filled with joy. And I am not talking about candids (I’ll capture those later), but posed “this is my fam” images. I promise you’ll love them.
5. Not hiring a wedding photographer you trust and feel comfortable around (yeah, I know it’s cliche).
You are literally letting an outsider into one of the most important days of your life, so make sure they make you feel calm and relaxed. That’s when you get the most gorgeous portraits, when you feel like yourself. Choose someone who brings your type of energy, hypes you up, and fits right in with your guests. That chemistry is everything!

Love doesn’t start with someone else. Love starts within yourself. This Valentine’s editorial was made as an ode to self-love, femininity, our softness and strength. It’s a reminder to romanticize your life, take up space, be unapologetically yourself, and appreciate who you are before everyone else.

Leave space in your timeline: rushing kills the vibe. Don’t obsess over perfection, focus on the moments. Choose vendors who make you feel calm and understood. And most of all, be present! The day goes by so fast!
