Pumped to be heading back up to Alaska’s @no.see.um.lodge nestled on the banks of the Kvichak River. Can’t wait to explore the waters in and around Katmai National Park... Camera in one hand, fly rod in the other. It’s such a wild, special place and I’m beyond stoked to capture more of it.
Let the adventure begin! 🐻 🎣 📸

Fishing in Alaska is unforgettable—but when whales breach just beyond your boat, it becomes something else entirely.
This is the magic of the wild. One of the many perks of getting outside and booking a fishing trip with places like @fireweed_lodge

Salmonfly eats were the easy part of "The Hard Way"
@deschutesnative brings down the smorgasbord of stoneflies for the ever discerning redside trout.

Throwback to some behind the scenes from the @off.the.grid.studios film “Nexgen”
Shot in and around Victor, ID and Alpine, WY.
In “NexGen,” filmmaker @beattie_outdoor_productions tells the story of generational bonds and friendships formed through fly fishing. In the film, Beattie offers a new perspective, as the film is told from the point of view and with the narration of Jack Buccola — a 12-year-old angler from Bend, Oregon. The film follows Jack as he experiences living in a fly fisherman’s house, witnesses the impact of fires on his home waters, and explores new waters on a road trip with his father Ryan, friend Judd Field, and Judd’s father Pete. Throughout the journey, Jack grows to appreciate the steelhead of the Northwest, the native cutthroat trout found on the South Fork of the Snake River and other tributaries, and Jack also realizes the potential for more travel with a tying business.

Ya wanna take the flats boat up to the river and catch some carp and then send the photos to a magazine and get on the cover? Okay.... Step one achieved... Step two... In progress.
Running around the gorge with @beattie_outdoor_productions catching some ditch missiles.
Also... @keep.fish.wet , yes.. even carp.
Oh no! It's raining and all the bugs are hiding... Never fear! That's what streamers are for!
A little rain, a lot of streamer eats. Ripping big flies on the Snake with @westbankanglers , hunting for browns and cutties between the downpours. Cold hands, aggressive takes... just how it should be.
@colin.ah on the sticks.
@mdawesjr on the streamers.
@off.the.grid.studios & @beattie_outdoor_productions on the media boat.
Not everyone grows up in the wild. Some find their way to it later—and it changes everything.
RA Beattie shares the pressure and honor of telling Matt’s story—a city kid who didn’t want to be outside, until fishing reshaped his entire life.
