Hi, I’m Julie. I’ve always been a collector, but of matter really started as a reaction. After seeing so many identical "millennial grey" apartments over the years, I felt a massive pull toward the opposite. I wanted to find objects with actual soul - the kind of quirky, heavy, conversation-starting pieces that people can’t help but ask about over dinner. I’ve always been drawn to the raw and the unrefined. For me, it’s about the weight of bronze, the grain of old wood, and the hand-cast imperfections that make an object feel like it has a soul. I’m looking for a specific kind of quiet confidence in a piece - something that adds edge to a room without needing to shout. What started as a personal obsession is now something I get to share. of matter is the result of that transition from collector to founder. I’m incredibly excited to finally bring this to life and see these pieces find their next place. Every object has a story before it reaches me. I can’t wait to see how they continue their journey with you. Image credit: @sophieschpr

Drop 01 marks the beginning of of matter. A first gathering of objects chosen for presence rather than period — pieces shaped by use, time, and touch. Each item carries its own history, yet belongs to a shared sensibility: material honesty, quiet form, and patina that hasn’t been erased. This inaugural drop sets the foundation of how we curate — guided by curiosity, not trends. Objects meant to be lived with, not just looked at. Drop 01 now available via DM. David Marshall’s objects rarely feel fully resolved. Their appeal lies somewhere in the tension between refinement and rawness, between utility and sculpture. This small selection of cast aluminium and brass brings together a few variations on that language. Spain, 1970s. All pieces available via DM.

Whilst we’re still carrying a lot of joy and energy from last week’s pop-up, we’ve been quietly working in the background on the next chapter of of matter. Our webshop is currently taking shape and will be launching soon. Until then, available pieces can still be ordered via DM. If an object speaks to you, feel free to reach out.

@of__matter by @ofform_studio Of Matter is a Munich-based platform curating vintage objects, furniture, and lighting, where each piece carries the marks of time and use. The challenge was to create an identity that reflects this evolving material quality while maintaining a refined and contemporary presence suited to the art and design context. The visual system is grounded in the idea of material shaped by time. An irregular symbol introduces subtle movement and imperfection, while a restrained typographic language allows the objects to take focus. Together, these elements create a calm, considered identity that emphasises texture, history, and the quiet presence of each curated piece. #branding #brandidentity #branddesign
