When can you see Kim’s “Mise en Place” immersive staged reading? Why, you can join us on Friday night, or Saturday with the 3:45pm Showcase. You can also take her workshop: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Writing a Recipe (But Were Afraid to Ask)
🗓 Saturday, Oct 25 | 12:45–1:45pm
📍 Reverie Ballroom
💸 $25 / Included with your Plus Pass
A recipe is more than a list of instructions—it’s a roadmap, a memory, a story. In this fun, interactive workshop with writer and chef Kim O’Donnel, we’ll explore how recipe writing is both a science and an art. You’ll learn the practical nuts and bolts to make your recipes clear and accurate, then dive into the magic of how a recipe can capture a moment in time—your grandmother’s kitchen, a sunset sorbet in Barbados, or the shorthand text that became a family favorite.
Kim O’Donnel is a writer, chef, and teacher who has spent nearly thirty years using food as her creative lens. She’s the author of three cookbooks, including PNW Veg: The Pacific Northwest Seasonal Vegetarian Cookbook, and has written hundreds of recipes for newspapers, cookbooks, and meal kits. Currently based in Pennsylvania, Kim is at work on a food memoir about the sticky, delicious bits that make up a life.
