She’s was so sick & I feared it was the cold from filming her with drones running through the wet rainforest ?
Sadly she was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor stage 4 Glio. Anyway we continued to film for that year in between her Chemo & Radiation .
She even came to our film premiere days after an Awake Surgery to remove safely as much of the tumor they could . Can you imagine being 21 years old & your listening to them saw through your scull or cut open and sew you back together, ( they managed to keep most of her hair & she walked into the theater looking Beautiful & Brave . It was as if she had been told you had a finger hang nail infection , that all ?

Now if that is not a strong , brave girl . I thought it was important for her and I to take that stress and fear and put it on stronger days work and to have a purpose, the film I hoped would distract us.
🎬 When we did that last & first scene of her laying tastefully & specifically positioned , nude on a rock with water all around her , wind blowing salt water waves towards while clutching onto that Pink YSL purse . Sean had that drone up atleast 200 to 300 ft .That was a lot of pressure for all especially Sean & Téa to nail it in basically 1 -2 takes !! Wow !
I then had entered the 6 min Art / Fashion / Film all over the world & in return the universe wrapped its arms around us & gave her best actress/ model ( with no script or screenplay ) .Best Director & Best Cinematic photography & many other ..
The film has won over 30 awards now . 🎬
It took 2- 3 trips total LA to a small remote island that has access by float plane or ferry . I have 2 amazing assistants for Drone and my main lighting guy sean.ponsford & 3 days & day 1 drone and props from Steve Flagen . Hair & Makeup by Tea & I , Styling by me .

Natural light and shot with my first and favorite camera , Mamiya RZ - 67 medium format film camera that I bought used in mint condition at the beginning of my career; she’s never failed me and I love . I have made the jump to shoot digital fighting and screaming all the way . I have even told clients I prefer to shoot film and they have at times where they say sorry we want you tethered and tied up to the computer shooting digital . That’s when I or my agent ask how much of this is a deal breaker . And for me I am OK to walk away from a job and not do it based on that. I won’t shoot all tangled up and contained like that with acord around me , it’s awful & very stifling
I would rather sleep in with my dogs and do my own project under my own terms . others that still like 👍 To the new generation try to shoot in MANUAL Mode !!! It’s so freeing and creatively it’s actually gives you more control , and it opens up a world of cool visual opportunities to you , once you top off that bandaid of fear . Endless
People think they’re saving money with digital verses a film camera , in advertising or editorial.
Typically the budget to pay a Digital technician is anywhere from 1,200 - 1,500 a day .
Depending on the brand and their budget So if I shot 10 rolls of film per look , so say 50-60 rolls of film , it’s about 650 or less and the way I process my film or the way I have the lab dial in my secrecy recipe ( how many stops do I push my film ) after they lab does that and I pick up these giant life size proof sheets 13x19 . Each image on the proof sheet is like a 5x7 to view it . So I have been finding my self slowly going back to film more .

I came up with this concept for a song called Blood 🩸In The Cut - by Kay Flay . My manager at the time contacted her people & explained my vision & Art Difection & they gave me the green light to do a small director’s cut for my reel …
I shot this at my old loft in Gastown Vancouver BC .. Rami my camera man used my favorite camera The Red camera . I styled Danielle , used some amazing unique props like the Green Hermes Whip & that Russian Sniper Camera , it’s a Zenit camera for 35 mm film . That firing cord hooked up to the trigger makes it easier and faster to shoot on continuous motion . Also that lens I think was a 400 . I am the second owner to that camera , it came straight from Russian and I don’t know much else about what the shot with it ? Was it a Spy camera at one time ? Anyway the wigs I bought in China town for 20 bucks , that red latex dress if from the inky Latex store in Gastown ( will try to find name )

Still Celebrating 20 Years in Fashion Photography/ Directing 🖤 … this clip was much longer but for music rights and usage you can’t make videos to long . But for now enjoy and Stay Tuned as I continue to Edit & plow through all my archives of Hard Drives , C.D & Negatives ( medium format) as well as giant size Guess & Playboy Proof sheets 16x19 . The last shot is one of my favourite images of me riding my bike in Malibu with my Boston Terrier Spanky at a super cool Beach Bungalow I had rented for a few years early in my career and used as a studio . The flood of memories from that images is very hard to see now , that’s where I met Model / Actress Bree Condon when she was just 18 years old for her first GUESS Teat shoot , I also shot a Speedo test shoot that lead to a year of campaigns with them & Michael Phelps & Amanda Beards as there spokes models , after alot of shoots we would all go to Moon Shadows to celebrate . We would lay out on these giant beds overlooking the ocean , it was just so great . It’s now all gone and so is my place I rented I still remember the address there & where I sent my rent bill every month 🥺 hahah all worth it 🥺📸🖤💦
To think it’s all gone now it’s really hard to believe , but those memories have all been kept alive & captured by some of my favourite cameras which I still have & the images , so nothing can take that away from us all 😢🏡😢🖤🥺📸
