Earlier this year I put on an art show called utopia // heaven. Inspired by thr phrase a better world is possible, I wanted to explore what that world might look like on a relational level. This is my proudest accomplishment as an artist to date. You can view the full project on on my website. I’m also giving out free physical zine versions of the project for people in Philly! and If u really love a piece, it would mean so much if u bought one. 100% of the proceeds will go to a cause of my choice. I’m thinking @vamos_juntos_ , an organization in Philadelphia working to get ICE out of PA and provide help to immigrants.
Ummm so I hosted my first solo art show and it was so perfect and wonderful and I can’t stop thinking about it. Thank u everyone for coming to Utopia // Heaven. Thankful for the community of art lovers and art makers and thankful for @nutmeg_bar_and_market for existing for local artists like me <3. Shout out to my amazing performers and contributors!! There’s this willow tree in fairmount park by the flying Angels statues. It’s one of the rare places you go whete you kinda feel like transported to somewhere magical. Like a portal almost to a different realm. Like you can commune with the divine or something. I’ve been trying for weeks to capture this tree on camera and try and capture that feeling of being under the willow tree. I like jjst can’t really get it right. But this is my latest attempt. Sunset under the willow tree.
I went to the south for the first time last week. I visited Charleston, Savannah and St. Augustine. I made a point of it to photograph strangers (with their consent…mostly). I did not realize it at the time but I suppose my eye naturally gravitates towards people of color and it was really sweet to hear some of their stories. The lady in the hoola hoop goes to Forsyth park in Savannah with her portable hoop. She taught me how to hoop. It was really joyful. And the lady with the basket has been weaving for generations. Her grandma taught her and she is teaching her grandchildren.
A series for my photography lighting course final. Tangled explores the experience of living with ocd and the struggle of trying to create certainty and order in a world that is inherently chaotic.
