Yup, B-Sides from Pop Amoeba are out too! Link in the bio :)
Originally I was just going to keep them on the CD and let them hide there, but I figured maybe some of the tracks deserved a wider release.
Anyways, enjoy!
When I originally put this album on streaming in August, I told a few friends and some family... I guess this is me telling everyone else now (^_^)
It is called “Pop Amoeba.” The name I am using for this release is @oddrove .
Links are in the bio. I also have 50 or so CD’s I will be giving to people. DM me if you want one.
I have infinite thanks to give, firstly to @jjganeshmusic for the mentorship, mixing and support... without you I would have been stumbling around with a bunch of songs on my computer.
Blair Wells did much to master this record once Joe and I finished the mixes.
And the only other people on the record are @avalederman and @msdandme doing background vocals on Aurora!
I wrote, arranged, performed, sung, recorded and co-mixed everything else. All original art by me, even for the CD’s.
I have infinitely more thanks to give beyond that. To my family, to my friends, to everyone who has touched my life and made the context from which this was sprung, to those who might’ve heard this music before anyone else and believed in it, and to those who will hear it in the future. Thank you.
A good part of this was made during the better part of the pandemic, fueled by a world that was in limbo. My production and songwriting have evolved since then, making this a time capsule into a current I haven’t captured since... I wanted to shelve Pop Amoeba, thinking it doesn’t reflect who I am today. But sometimes the best way to grow is to acknowledge and own those past versions of who you were, for they will always be woven into the fabric of your story. So, the best way to kick off my “discography” is to get these off my chest. They’ve been there for too long. Hopefully you enjoy them too.
Will be releasing much more in the coming months and years...

A hammer is a tool, right? You can construct a house with it, or smash somebody’s head in.
A guitar is a tool, right? You can use it to play something beautiful and facilitate gathering, or you can choose violence and blast pedestrians with unwanted noise to gain infamy.
The internet is a tool, right? We can use it to form decentralized networks of exchange that could facilitate an actual egalitarian society, or we can use it to create digital skinner boxes that pit everyone against each other in 60-second wars for attention amidst seas of propaganda that ultimately enrich a few people in Silicon Valley at the expense of the world’s social fabric.
Tools exist everywhere around us. They are technologies, institutions, even our own bodies. But the way they get used will be determined by our psychological and cultural makeup. It is no mistake that the most popular portion of the internet coalesced into the dystopian framework we know today, because the culture it grew to serve is a culture steeped in unreasonable greed, self-interest, and convenience. Our institutions reflect this, and the stories we keep telling ourselves reflect this.
I remember seeing “There Will Be Blood” one day with a good friend. A prospector strikes rich on oil in the Old West, and tears down every person in his periphery until he lives in a mansion with as much fuck-you-money as possible. He values his relationships with others so little that he even disinherits his own son.
My friend thought the businessman was admirable. However I felt like I had just finished watching a tragedy. (It’s a very good movie btw, I just mean I thought the businessman was a tragic character.)
Imagine how many of us admire characters like those?
There is so much terrible shit in the world because we are playing out inherited cultural paradigms that necessitate inequality, and screwing each other over for safety. But as creatures with the ability to not only live our lives as if they are stories, but to also CONTRIBUTE to that story, I’m sure we can achieve better. And the alternatives are out there. We just have to now start questioning and rewriting that story, down to the most basic assumptions.
