As the final unit in the analog chain, I use the @elysia.audio xmax multiband compressor.
Multiband Control: It is fundamental because it allows me to work compression independently on both the Mid and Side. It also features a crossover to further focus on the specific frequency zone we want to target.
The Clipper: It features a clipper derived from the Elysia Alpha Master, which sounds wonderful. It allows me to add a bit of saturation with a very pleasant tape-machine-like sonority.
Stereo Image: Through its Side gain knob, I can widen or narrow the image with a different color than the Dutch Audio’s Width control. Having these two options for opening the stage is a luxury for fine-tuning the final size of the master.

🇪🇸...mi cadena analógica de mastering es una construcción que me ha tomado años. Cada pieza que hoy habita en mi estudio no está ahí por capricho ni por seguir una moda; cada equipo entró para cubrir una necesidad técnica y artística específica.
Cerramos un Open Day increíble en O’Connell Mastering. Fue un verdadero lujo recibir a tantos entusiastas del audio y la producción en Barcelona (🤯 3 turnos) para compartir una jornada de escucha crítica y análisis técnico.
En lugar de solo procesar tracks, decidimos sumergirnos en la arquitectura de la imagen estéreo. Analizamos desde la calidez y el ambiente de los clásicos de Miles Davis y The Beatles hasta la complejidad espacial y el diseño sonoro de Yosi Horikawa.
Hablamos a fondo sobre el procesamiento Mid-Side, la correlación de fase y el eterno debate de los LUFS y el Loudness.
También oímos la cadena analogica. Escuchar el Maselec, el Manley, Elysia y el resto de los equipos en acción siempre es revelador, me gusta compartirlo.

We just wrapped up an incredible Open Day at O’Connell Mastering. It was a true privilege to host so many audio enthusiasts and producers here in Barcelona (🤯 3 sessions) for a day of critical listening and technical analysis.
Instead of just processing tracks, we decided to dive deep into the architecture of the stereo image. We analyzed everything from the warmth and ambience of classics like Miles Davis and The Beatles, to the spatial complexity and sound design of Yosi Horikawa.
We had in-depth discussions on Mid-Side processing, phase correlation, and the eternal debate of LUFS and Loudness.
We also put the analog chain to work. Hearing the @maselecusa , the @manleylabs , the @elysia.audio and the rest of the gear in action is always an eye-opener—I truly enjoy sharing that experience.
