In the West Bank, Palestinian communities are facing rising settler violence, demolitions and forcible displacement. Ramiz Alakbarov along with 11 Member States visited affected communities and saw the conditions first hand. People need urgent protection and justice.

In #EastJerusalem, Palestinians issued demolition orders for structures built without rarely granted permits, are often forced to demolish their own homes to avoid the payment of additional fines and fees. Read more in our latest report. Link in bio.

Rapid response supported by the humanitarian community prevented loss of life near a solid waste dumpsite that caught fire in Gaza city. Rodents and insects continue to drive increases in skin infections and other health risks across Gaza. In the West Bank, the spread of foot-and-mouth disease is heightening humanitarian concerns for vulnerable Bedouin and herding communities. In just a week, 55 Palestinians were displaced in Area C and East Jerusalem due to administrative demolitions and recurrent settler attacks and intimidation. Amid ongoing movement restrictions and delays, the World Health Organization has documented 38 attacks on health care across the West Bank since January – affecting four health facilities and 33 ambulances. Rats. Insects. Disease. This is daily life for people in Gaza. With waste piling up and sanitation limited, rodents and pests are spreading. The UN and partners are improving sanitation and pest control. But lasting change requires debris-removal machinery to go into Gaza and access to waste disposal sites to be restored.

Four months into 2026, just over 10 per cent of the funding required to provide critical humanitarian operations this year has been secured. In Gaza, two NGO workers were killed in separate incidents, triggering the suspension of health and water services. Restrictions on the entry of generators, engine oil, and spare parts are driving widespread system failures, reducing health and sanitation services, debris removal, and the movement of humanitarian teams. In the West Bank, 2026 has so far recorded the highest monthly average of people displaced due to lack-of-permit demolitions in over 17 years for which UN records are available. Israeli forces and settlers killed four Palestinians, including two children, between 21 and 27 April, and a Palestinian woman died of injuries sustained during an Israeli operation in 2023. Settler attacks on education are increasing pressure on rural families to leave their homes and communities. Read more in our latest report. Link in bio.

In-person schooling recently resumed in the West Bank after a nearly-one-month disruption due to the regional escalation. On 21 April, Israeli settlers raided the Palestinian herding community of Hammamat al Maleh, in the northern Jordan Valley, and demolished at least two residential structures and an elementary school that was funded by donors and served about 60 children from surrounding herding communities. The last three remaining Palestinian households in the community, comprising 15 people including six children, were fully displaced. This is one of six communities that have been fully displaced in Tubas governorate since 2023 due to settler attacks and access restrictions.

We have now released a new fact sheet and an updated version of the West Bank Access Restrictions Map, based on a comprehensive field survey carried out in December 2025. The key findings include: 🚧 925 obstacles across the West Bank (the highest number on a 20-year record) 🚧 At least 459 obstacles block or hinder access to main roads 🚧 Over 120 new road gates installed in 2025 (standalone or as part of checkpoints) 🚧 The 712-km-long Barrier (64% built) remains the single largest obstacle 👥︎ 3.4 million Palestinians affected Through the interactive map, you can zoom into specific areas, display layers of your choice, and export customized, printable versions. Since January 2023, 45 Palestinian communities have been fully displaced across the West Bank due to settler attacks and related access restrictions, including nine communities in 2026. An updated mapping by OCHA shows 925 movement obstacles across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem – the highest number recorded in the past 20 years and 43 per cent above the two-decade average. While major impediments persist, aid entry into Gaza surged considerably between 14 and 20 April, compared with the previous week, attributable in part to the reopening of Zikim Crossing. Two UNICEF contractors killed while delivering drinking water in northern Gaza, prompting the suspension of operations at a key filling point. Read more in our latest update. Link in bio.

Lice, bedbugs, scabies and other skin infections have been reported in 80 per cent of all displacement sites across the Gaza Strip, where rodents or pests are frequently visible – affecting about 1.45 million people. Health partners report over 70,000 cases of rodent and ectoparasitic infestations so far in 2026. The UN and partners have joined forces to improve solid waste management and access to health care, and boost drainage and sanitation services. They have deployed traps and sprayed chemical treatments. And they are raising awareness of personal hygiene, sanitation, the safe use of chemicals – among other important measures. However, many of these rely on items that are largely unavailable in Gaza and often difficult to take in. More approvals are needed for pest-control chemicals, hygiene supplies and the engine oils and spare parts required for pumping, rubble removal and other operations. Last week, OCHA and partners visited Al Ittihad displacement site in Khan Younis, Gaza, following an alert from families living in tents where the soil is at risk of collapse. Humanitarians are supporting 25 families who have decided to temporarily relocate for their safety while partners begin the necessary repairs. More than one million people are living in unsafe shelters and makeshift tents and urgently need durable shelter solutions. Supporting them at scale requires clearing rubble and explosive ordnance and repairing damaged homes. To achieve this, the entry of much-needed machinery, equipment and critical items must be approved.

Safety for civilians, including humanitarian workers, is guaranteed nowhere in #Gaza. Attacks continue to be reported across all parts of the Strip every day, causing casualties. In northern Gaza, two @UNICEF contractors delivering essential water supplies were killed at a water filling point. In Deir al Balah, bullets hit the @UNRWA Maghazi Health Centre reportedly causing damage and injuries. Such attacks cost lives but also disrupt critical services that communities depend on for survival. Statement: https://bit.ly/3OckbNx
