Antegnosis, the latest album by Occulsed, immediately imposes a dark and oppressive atmosphere. Every riff, blast, and silence is sculpted with intention, creating a constant and immersive pull.
What distinguishes the album is its aesthetic continuum. Far from a revival, it is a living and non-museum anachronism: the music sounds “out of time,” but not out of the present. The modern elements — in the use of dissonance and the density of the atmosphere — are integrated naturally, without breaking with the roots. It is neither a collage nor a forced hybridization, but an organic extension of a language the musicians have practiced and undeniably assimilated.
The album precisely varies the atmospheres: almost doom mid-tempo passages, brutal accelerations, and tortured riffs that provoke vertigo and tension, all while remaining coherent. The dissonance is not a technical ornament but an inherent texture of the music, enhancing its density and darkness.
Antegnosis embodies a parallel temporality where brutality, atmosphere, and stylistic continuity coexist naturally. It is this clarity that makes it a milestone in contemporary extreme Death Metal.

Lineup features K. Parker (vocals), J. Stubbs (guitars & bass) and J. Moran (drums).
Artwork, created by J. Stubbs, presents a dark and ritualistic visual atmosphere that complements the music of Antegnosis. The imagery is dense, intricate, and deliberately foreboding, evoking themes of death, decay, and occult mystique.
@occulsed hails from Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and Antegnosis is their second full-length release.
