RACE REPORT
First race of the season at Webb’s Slough was the best day of racing we’ve had with this unlimited package. All the changes that were made throughout the winter were effective. Moving the engine forward a quarter of an inch and the intercooler another 3/4 of an inch forward helped keep the bow of the boat under control. We were dialing in some fast times until the 4th round of qualifying when a fuel injection line came loose. This caused the motor to such off immediately and ignite a small fire in the engine bay.
We came back out for the elimination rounds and ran a slow shake down pass, enough to make it to the 4 cut.
Then it was go big or go home. We put down a 45.32 in the 4 cut qualifying is for the finals.
The finals found us paired against our long time rival and strong competitor, Overkill. We attacked the course with everything the boat would give us, even with lingering damage we laid down a 45.39. We anxiously waited on the launch ramp for Overkill’s final time. We couldn’t believe it but our name was called as the final winner with only 8/100th of a second separating the two teams.
Our crew members as always were amazing. Jeremy takes his role seriously and we appreciate how he takes the load off so we can focus on the driving.

We could not think of a better way to finish out our season than to return to ESP in Port Angeles. Our team hasn’t been there since 2019 and the warm welcome that we received from our fans was overwhelming!
After some adjustments with the weight distributions to the boat following the last race, we were excited to see how the boat was going to respond. We were not disappointed! While we know we have some more tuning that needs to be done, it was a night and day difference.
Knowing that the boat was going to handle very different from what we were used to, we planned on making a conservative pass during the first round of qualifying. The boat was definitely better with the adjustments we had made. During the second round we tried to lay down a more competitive pass and managed bring it in at 38.5 seconds. But as we were crossing the wake going into the spinout pool the boat was very unsettled! We ended the run aggressively having to snap the boat around to avoid going into the fence but we did take on a large amount of water.
After that we decided to make the quickest pass possible but keep the boat and our crew safe! We were very pleased with the overall performance, managing to bring home 3rd. With that finish our team was on the podium at every event we attended this year, a major step in the right direction!
We have a few changes coming this off season to make the boat better for next year and can’t wait for the first race of 2023.
