I’ve been busy in my new studio getting ready for #petersvalleycraftfair this coming weekend. I’m really excited to show you my new work—here’s a little sneak peek 👀👀
Stay sane and stay safe, wear your masks, wash your hands, and vote!
You win some, you lose some. Thankfully this was from a test kiln, so only four pots were harmed. My black porcelain doesn’t like to get too hot 🥵
The silver lining: you can see the layers of the colored clay in the last clip. When casting, I alternate layers of slip in the mold. The longer the slip stays in the mold, the thicker the layer. This cup was made with three layers:
White slip, 5 minutes
Black slip, 30 seconds
White slip, 10 minutes
This timing affects the final appearance drastically. When I carve the outside layer, I reveal the clay hidden beneath the surface. A thin layer creates a fine line, while a thicker layer creates a field of color.
By playing with the possibilities, I bring differences into a process meant for sameness.
Hi NCECA! I am unfortunately not coming to Detroit this week, but my work is! You can see it in person and purchase it this week (March 25–28) at Northern Clay Center’s (@northernclaycenter ) Gallery Expo booth (GE1) at NCECA. The Gallery Expo is free and open to the public. Have fun in Detroit for me!

FIRE WALK WITH ME fernisering 5. sept. 15-17.

We’re thrilled to highlight @objectmaker , a brilliantly talented artist, great friend, and our neighbor here at @moebelfabrikk01 . He creates the most stunning pieces⚡️, and we’re beyond lucky to have two of his amazing cups in our collection ✌️

I had the pleasure this week of teaching a course on hand building with the second semester students of @kglakademi_glass_and_ceramics . We recreated three still life paintings to learn pinching, coiling, modeling, terra sigillata, objecthood, and composition. I started my position as the Ceramics Technician at @kglakademi 4 months ago! Whoa, time flies! I am so happy to be able to work with these amazing students at such a special school. Swipe through to see the paintings that we used for inspiration: Jacopo da Empoli, Giorgio Morandi, and Vilhelm Lundstrøm.
Field trip! I went with the first year students of @kglakademi_glass_and_ceramics to Hjorths Fabrik in Rønne earlier this week. They will select an object from their collection as inspiration for their next project. It was great to see the collection and see the workshop that has been in use since 1862. I am lucky to be on this island that has such a rich ceramic history.
Fun exciting news! I’m moving to Denmark! I’m really excited to announce that I’m joining the Royal Danish Academy programme for Crafts as their Ceramics Technician. 🤯 I can’t believe this is happening! Come and visit me and we can ride bikes around the island and eat smoked fish! I’m moving at the end of October—stay tuned for updates!!!
