NEW REVISED EDITION! Zsofia Kollar Object-Oriented Identity: Cultural Belongings from our Recent Past 15 × 20 cm, 216 p, ills colour, softcover ISBN 9789464770872 ‘Object-Oriented Identity: Cultural belongings from our recent past’ is a journey through objects and identities. Through curiosity, it helps discover the unforeseeable directions in our product-oriented society, where one is no longer the sum of their actions, but the sum of their own objects. OOI is a catalog constructed as a result of a personal fascination with understanding the nature of our consumption. It investigates the odd connections between objects and history and their cultural relevance in our individual and collective identities. Everyday objects are presented through a new lens, for one to show another side of these familiar items, and for another to question how much these objects can transform or manipulate one’s identity. Objects are becoming a part of our bodies, everything we own is an extension of the body and mind. The tools that we are shaping and that are now starting to shape us are at the edges of our comprehension. We have to understand how tools are shaping us, and how to cope with that shaping in the time of hyper-change. In today’s world, the consumer spree carries on regardless, and a few of us are aware that we are still willing servants to a completely artificial injunction to consume and to define ourselves by what we consume. @zsofiakollar @objectidentity @artpapereditions @monogram.paris @jurgen_maelfeyt

_jessegroom_ is a New York-based designer whose practice moves between furniture design and sculptural craft. Working with found and industrial materials, Groom creates raw assemblages that feel both improvised and deliberate, shaped through experimentation, material intuition, and unexpected formal shifts. His work often explores the friction between functional design and more instinctive, vernacular forms of expression. His ongoing Cicatrix series, which includes chairs, lamps, and other furniture pieces, centers on labor-intensive metalwork processes in which aluminum frames are layered with countless filler rods. Groom describes these works as self-forming objects that embody the Greek concept of techne, where knowledge emerges through making itself. In his words, “Cicatrix praises the scars of practice and process.” #jessegroom #americandesign #aluminum #design #labor

@vincentdubourgatelier ’s work exists in a state of tension where metal appears softened, form shifts, and weight dissolves into lightness. Through a practice shaped by fire, movement, and material transformation, he blurs the boundary between sculpture and function, creating objects that move beyond conventional definitions of design. In WIND RIPPLED, the edges of the table surface appear to tremble as though briefly released from gravity, transforming function into an invitation for sculpture to inhabit space. Dubourg combines the techniques of glassblowing, wood bending, and metal casting to animate otherwise simple forms with a sense of fluidity and instability. In Napoleon A Trotinette, the solid structure of a bureau is contrasted with the graceful movement of cast bronze branches, bringing together strength and delicacy within a single sculptural composition. via @theaproom #metal #design #furnituredesign #table #metalwork

@a.o.t.studio is a conceptual design practice based in Copenhagen, driven by a curiosity for contemporary relevance and the narratives embedded within objects. Working across collections and one off pieces, the studio creates works that extend beyond pure utility, challenging perceptions of the objects themselves and their role within everyday life. Engaging critically with the history of making and production, AOT STUDIO seeks to rethink conventional methods through a process rooted in craftsmanship and experimentation. Each project begins with what can be achieved by hand, later adapting to larger scale production only when necessary. This reversal of the conventional industrial process forms the basis of the studio’s approach and its ongoing challenge to established systems of production. Committed to local manufacturing in Denmark, the studio places importance on environmental, economic, geopolitical, and social considerations, maintaining close relationships with producers and collaborators to support an adaptable and responsible practice. The POC 25 collection emerged from an ongoing effort to repurpose leftover material from the studio’s aluminium production. Consisting of three one off stools, the series uses scrap aluminium tubes that are either welded together or compressed under high pressure, transforming industrial remnants into sculptural functional objects. #danishdesign #chair #objectdesign #aot #furnituredesign

Doors are part of every space we inhabit, yet their design is often overlooked despite being one of the most defining architectural elements. Much like a handbag completes an outfit, a door shapes the first impression of an interior, acting as both threshold and statement. @dooor_official approaches this overlooked element with a balance of technical precision and adaptable design thinking. Working across residential, hospitality, professional, cultural, commercial, and wellness environments, the company develops folding walls and partition systems that combine functionality with a refined material sensibility. Rooted in the Italian tradition of textile folding doors, Dooor expands the aesthetic and spatial possibilities of movable architecture through bespoke solutions, expressive materials, and tailored detailing. Whether integrated seamlessly into a wall or conceived as an independent structural element, each system is defined by a considered use of colour, texture, and form, reflecting the enduring character of Made in Italy craftsmanship. #dooor #door #italiandesign #textiles #interior

The Tiny Flower Chair was developed from observations of small everyday seats encountered during travels through Laos. While preserving the chair’s original function, its appearance was transformed through the addition of stainless steel flowers inspired by decorative motifs commonly found on gates and railings throughout the Lao landscape. Created in 2024 in collaboration with @maevadauriac and @simon_dupety , the piece reflects an interest in vernacular forms and subtle reinterpretation. Simon+ is a Paris based object design studio founded by Simon Dupety. His work is rooted in an ongoing exploration of craftsmanship, examining both traditional techniques and their future applications. Through this approach, the studio develops lighting and furniture projects for institutions and galleries, while also collaborating with brands on singular and experimental pieces. Closely connected to industrial production, the practice seeks to expand the imagination surrounding how objects are made, with Simon overseeing every stage of the process from concept to production. #laos #designchair #parisstudio #objectdesign #craftmanship

sign is a Rotterdam based design studio founded by Jeffrey Cats and Bo Vesseur. Their work explores the use of natural elements such as light and water, whether to create depth within materials or as the starting point for research. By pushing the limits of existing production techniques and materials, the studio captures elusive phenomena through objects and installations, seeking a balance between wonder, functionality, and abstraction. Mirror medi emerged from an ongoing investigation into the extensibility of materials, resulting in a series of objects that transform flat sheet material into new forms. Produced in two distinct sizes, each variation carries its own character and material expression, while highlighting the striking contrast between deformed and linear surfaces to reveal the tension between structure and transformation. #mirror #steel #object #design #jostudio

@juliaesque approaches design with a quiet confidence, shaping objects that sit between clarity and surprise. Her work moves across lighting, furniture, and accessories, often guided by a careful use of textiles that soften, transform, and sometimes even disguise form. There is a sense of play in how materials are handled, yet everything remains grounded in purpose and balance. The Claudio armchair reflects this attitude with particular precision. At first glance, it appears almost concealed beneath its draped textile skin, as if the structure is intentionally held back. The fabric does more than cover, it redefines the silhouette, introducing softness, rhythm, and a subtle tension between what is revealed and what is hidden. The result is an object that feels both familiar and unexpected, inviting interaction while maintaining a composed presence. #design #drapes #chair #juliaesque #textile
