There’s a hole out here that lives in your head long after the round is over… Hole 14 at Oak Quarry. An elevated tee box. Water stretched out in front of you. A green that looks smaller the longer you stare at it. And behind it all… a massive white quarry wall rising up like a backdrop you can’t ignore. It’s not just a golf shot, it’s a commitment. You step up knowing there’s no bailout. No safe miss. Just pick your line, trust your swing, and go. And that’s what makes it the signature hole. It’s not the longest par 3 you’ll ever play, but it demands everything from you mentally. The elevation messes with your distance. The water punishes hesitation. And those quarry walls? They play tricks on your eyes the entire time. For a split second, doubt creeps in. And in golf, that’s all it takes. But when you strike one pure and watch it carry the water, land soft, and hold the green… Damn, there’s nothing like it. A place where the shot isn’t just physical— it’s mental. And honestly… it’s a reminder of something bigger: Sometimes in life, just like this hole, you don’t get a perfect safety net. You just have to commit, trust yourself… and swing. And honestly… that’s why this hole sticks with me. Because it feels a lot like life right now. Being a parent—especially raising a child with Type 1 Diabetes—there are so many moments where there’s no perfect play. No safe route and No guaranteed outcome. You prepare the best you can. You check everything twice. You think it through… again and again. But eventually, you still have to step up, trust what you know, and move forward. Even when it’s uncertain. Even when it’s scary. Just like that shot over the water you don’t always get to control the conditions only your commitment. And every day, I’m watching my daughter do exactly that. ✅ Strong. ✅ Resilient. ✅ Showing up no matter what’s in front of her. So yeah… it’s just a par 3. But it’s also a reminder: We’re all facing something. We’re all carrying something. And sometimes the only option is to trust yourself… and swing anyway.

Most people see a beautiful golf course… but this place has a story carved into it. Oak Quarry Golf Club wasn’t always fairways and greens. Long before the tee boxes and pin placements, this land was the Jensen Quarry—a working mine dating back to the late 1800s. For decades, men showed up here to do hard, physical work—pulling marble and limestone straight out of the earth. During World War I, this quarry even helped supply materials that built parts of Southern California. Then in 1979… it all stopped. The machines went quiet. And what was left behind wasn’t pretty—it was raw, rugged, and scarred with massive white rock walls and deep cuts through the land. Most places would’ve leveled it out and built houses. But instead… they saw something different. In 2000, designers Gil Morgan, Lee Schmidt, and Brian Curley turned it into one of the most unique golf experiences in Southern California—not by hiding the past, but by building around it. And that’s exactly what makes this course hit different. This isn’t just a round of golf… it’s a mental test. You’ve got: • Massive elevation changes that mess with your club selection • Narrow fairways with no room for mistakes • Forced carries over water and rock • Wind that shows up whenever it feels like it • And those quarry walls… playing tricks on your eyes all day There’s a hole out here—if you know, you know—where you’re standing on an elevated tee, staring down a green surrounded by water with a giant rock wall behind it. It looks impossible. And for a second… it gets in your head. That’s Oak Quarry. It’s not the longest course you’ll play… but it might be one of the most challenging. Because out here, it’s not about swinging harder— it’s about thinking smarter, staying patient, and trusting yourself even when everything looks off. And honestly… there’s something deeper about playing a place like this. A spot that used to represent hard labor, pressure, and grit… now turned into a place where we slow down, breathe, and spend time doing something we love.

An honor to be listed on @golfdigest as one of the best courses to play at! "Built on the site of a 100-year-old marble quarry, Oak Quarry presents some terrific golf amidst magnificent views. Hidden just off an exit ramp on the way from L.A. to Palm Springs, this course is a thrill ride with bouncy, big-shouldered fairways framed by white-granite cliffs that amaze almost as much as they antagonize." - Mike Stachura #golfdigest #oakquarry #golfclub
