Two trucks have been caught on video in a near-collision involving a police car on a central North Island state highway.
Dashcam footage shared with Stuff showed the police car overtaking a truck with only a small stretch of road between it and the truck with the camera.
The incident took place on SH1 north of Taupō about 4.20pm on Thursday.
Stuff has approached the police for comment.

A hearse arrived early on Friday morning after a devastating Christchurch house fire killed a child and left four other children and two adults injured overnight.
Fire investigators in hazmat suits entered the gutted Whitehall St home in Mairehau on Friday as police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand began trying to determine what caused the blaze.
Emergency services were called to the single-storey property about 8.25pm on Thursday after flames engulfed the house.
Six people were taken to hospital. One person suffered critical injuries, three were in serious to moderate conditions, and two had minor injuries.
Police confirmed on Friday morning that a child died at the scene.

Murder-accused Hayden Tasker broke down in tears and vomited after police told him Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming had died from injuries sustained when Tasker allegedly drove his car into two officers on New Year’s Day 2025.
An emotional police interview, played to the jury at the High Court in Christchurch on Thursday, captured Tasker’s reaction just minutes after learning he would face a murder charge.
The interview took place about 11 hours after the crash, and only six minutes after Senior Sergeant Fleming died in hospital.

Police say a West Auckland man’s occasional “volatile and confrontational” nature, as it was described by his peers, may have led to his presumed death 35 years ago.
An investigation into the disappearance of Andrew Maaka, who was last seen alive at a Guy Fawkes party at a Head Hunters gang pad in November 1991, has now been relaunched with a fresh appeal for information.
Speaking from the gang pad on Thursday, Detective Inspector Callum McNeil told reporters that Maaka had been described by his associates as “someone who could become volatile and confrontational, and that may have been the downfall for him in this gang environment”.
But Maaka, a father of three who was 29 when he vanished, was also someone who was “loving” and “affectionate” towards his family members.
McNeil said police don’t believe Maaka is alive and were treating the case as a homicide.

Volunteers who dropped everything when a siren broke the calm of the Marlborough Sounds say they couldn’t beat the flames - but would do it all again in a heartbeat.
Coastguard Marlborough said their emergency pagers went off late on Tuesday morning, alerting them to a 15-metre launch on fire near Blumine Island.
Coastguard said “flames, smoke and steam poured from the launch” as they battled the blaze for an hour, saying the heat was so intense it scorched trees along the shoreline.
“Despite every effort, the vessel could not be saved,” they said.
“But the most important outcome was already obtained. No lives were lost. No one was seriously injured. Everyone made it home.”
