Hayley is a Junior at @nyuniversity currently studying away at @nyutulsa . This semester she interned at @bybug_inc , a biotech startup using black soldier flies to develop protein-based solutions for the aquaculture industry. This is what the experience has taught her.

In 1921, the Greenwood District in Tulsa, known as Black Wall Street, was one of the most prosperous Black communities in the country. In less than two days, it was destroyed. Homes and businesses were burned, families were forced out, and a thriving economic center was left in ruins. For years, this history was barely mentioned in textbooks or public conversations.
That is exactly why Greenwood Rising matters. The museum recounts what led up to the violence of 1921, what happened during those two days, and how the community rebuilt afterward. It fills in context that is necessary for a fuller understanding of our nations history.
As a part of Freedom Fridays, Greenwood Rising is offering free admission every second Friday of the month through the end of the year.

For Ashlee, a Junior at @nyugallatin , interning at @tulsa.architecture wasn’t just about gaining experience. It was about understanding how good design shapes the way people experience a space. Working in TFA’s archive, she helped review and digitize architectural plans, photograph building fragments, and document significant objects for their online database, giving her insight into how projects begin long before they’re built.
Tulsa itself became part of that education. From the Deco and Cathedral Districts downtown to the city’s mid-century modern neighborhoods, she found no shortage of architecture to study.
@nyutulsa ’s internship program offers students the chance to gain experience at a wide range of cultural institutions, government agencies, advocacy organizations, startups, and other businesses. Visit nyu.edu/tulsa to learn more.
