Today is Museums Advocacy Day. ๐๏ธโจ
To honor the impact of museums and the vital work they do for our communities, we are highlighting our very own
@80WSE Gallery and the visionary leadership behind it. Following our recent reception to celebrate a landmark year, we are still beaming with pride!
We are thrilled to celebrate that 80WSEโs โLegacies: Asian American Art Movements in New York City (1969-2001)โ has received the
@artnews Award for Best Thematic Museum Exhibition of 2025. ๐
A huge shoutout goes to 80WSE Curator Howie Chen, whose transformative work has redefined what a university gallery can achieve. Beyond co-curating โLegaciesโ (alongside Jayne Cole and Christina Ong), Howieโs direction across all our exhibitions has turned 80WSE into a space of scholarship, curatorial vision, and artistic achievement of the highest caliber.
Standing alongside world-renowned nominees like
@themet ,
@sitesantafe ,
@mcasandiego , and
@artinstitutechi , this recognition is a testament to Howieโs commitment to "uncontainable" histories and rigorous scholarship. When we support the arts, we ensure that these essential stories always have a home.
Cheers to Howie, Jayne, and Christina, the artists, the 80WSE team, and everyone advocating for the future of museums today! ๐ฅ
