🍀 Today, the NYPD Emerald Society proudly stood alongside every fraternal organization of the NYPD at the Hall of Heroes Ceremony and Unveiling at One Police Plaza. Together, we laid flowers in solemn tribute to the courageous men and women of the service who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their memory is the foundation upon which we stand, and their legacy will forever be carried in our hearts. We were especially honored today to recognize our own — former Emerald Society Board Member Dennis Gallagher — a dedicated member who exemplified the values of service, brotherhood, and sacrifice that define our society. Today, we proudly honored our Past Man of the Year, Assistant Chief Matthew Galvin, as he walked out of One Police Plaza after an incredible 38 years of dedicated service to the New York City Police Department. From patrol to leadership within the Operations Division, Chief Galvin’s career reflects unwavering commitment, professionalism, and pride in the shield. His impact across numerous commands and specialized units leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. The turnout today was a testament to the respect he’s earned throughout the Department — a well-deserved sendoff for a remarkable career. Last night I had the privilege of attending the NYPD Emerald Society meeting in Brooklyn. It’s honestly hard to explain the feeling in that room. The camaraderie is something special. The moment you walk in, people treat you like family… and after a few minutes you realize it’s not just you. Everyone in that room is family. President Kevin Keenan welcomed everyone with his usual warmth and charm and the room was filled with pride. It was also great seeing Sean Coniker bring his dad out for the night. I had a chance to speak with him and he told me how proud he is of his son. Moments like that really stay with you. There are some great events coming up including the Emerald Society Golf Outing at South Shore Country Club, the summer BBQ, and the NYPD Pipes and Drums 25th Anniversary Concert on September 11th.
