Rochester: The Birthplace of Film. The George Eastman House dates back to 1949 and offers fantastic tours and exhibitions on the history of photography and film in America. It also has one of the world’s oldest film archives.
Our Upstate Tour brought NYPA to Rochester, NY! Had a great meeting with Rochester Film Commissioner, Nora Brown, and look forward to future trips upstate to support these booming local communities.
Our final visit in Buffalo brought us to the set of the horror film, Widow’s Point, starring Craig Sheffer, who famously starred opposite Brad Pitt in the 1987 film, A River Runs Through It. The local team continues to produce exceptional work and looks forward to more productions utilizing the great Buffalo region.
@buffalofilmworks was a phenomenal visit. This sound stage has hosted various productions including The Purge (2018), Crown Vic (2019), and Bashira (soon to be released). The facility was founded in 1890 as the Buffalo Car & Foundry where rail cars were produced along with WWII armaments and other works. With 4 stages in the works as well as functional office buildings, the facility will eventually be able to house over 120,000 sq ft of production area.
Truly would not have counted as a trip to Buffalo without getting soaked on the Maid of the Mist! ☔️☔️☔️☔️ Several television shows and films have used Niagara Falls as a filming location including the Keanu Reeves drama, Henry’s Crime (2010), the Melissa McCarthy comedy, Tammy (2014), and season 2 of The Sinner (2018).
