#KNOWYOURRIGHTS: DECODING WARRANTS‼️
Not all warrants are the same — and knowing the difference could protect you and your family.
Judicial Warrants:
-Must be signed by a judge
-ONLY the person, property and areas specified may be searched
-Legally allow agents into homes and private spaces
ICE Warrants
-Signed only by an ICE officer
-NOT legally sufficient to enter homes, businesses, or non-public areas
-ICE may try to convince you otherwise — but you do NOT have to let them in
The safest communities are the most informed.
📢 Share this to spread the word: ICE warrants do not give them the right to enter private spaces.
Javier was left without the use of his legs at times while in ICE detention due to severe medical neglect—"deliberate indifference," or intentional cruelty on the part of his jailers. The systematic mistreatment of our immigrant neighbors must end. @nylpi

At a press conference defending New York’s Climate Law, NYLPI Environmental Justice Director Caroline Chen made it clear: inaction is not an option. NYLPI has filed suit against the DEC and is urging Majority Leaders and the Speaker to stand firm against efforts to weaken the CLCPA.
New York has a real opportunity to lead the country on climate action. We cannot afford to move backward.

As we close out April, we celebrate Autism Acceptance Month!
For decades, NYLPI has championed community integration, from the era of the infamous Willowbrook State School to today. Our Disability Justice team continues to protect the rights of Autistic individuals and people with other developmental disabilities to be free from discrimination and to access education and other critical services. We must continue to challenge the inaccessibility of our society and fight for the equity, integration, and celebration of all neurodivergent people.
