Birthday dinner overlooking the St Andrews golf course with my friend Yasemin (she’s holding the camera). It was a great trip but I’m ready to get home!
2006, Aug 6, the gardens at Hampton Court Palace: I don't recall seeing that there was a person meditating. I generally I try to avoid capturing people in my photos, but in this case I think it's what I like about the photo. I hope that the person pictured here is okay with that; when I took the picture it was about everything else, and the fact that someone is meditating is a happy bonus.
Every time I look at this photo, it relaxes me. And it amazes me that a particular point in spacetime can do that, but it does.
I wish I knew who this was so I could thank him for this moment.
Walking home from dinner tonight, it was snowing. Which always makes me think of a magical night in London back in February 2007 when the city was blanketed in snow and I was the only person in Trafalgar Square at 1:30 in the morning.
The snow didn't last very long. In my memory the second picture was taken the next morning, but the timestamp on the file tells me it was three days later. I prefer the story that my memory is telling me: that by the time people were out and about the next morning all of the snow had disappeared.
