We're excited to share that our Voter Language Assistance (VLA) Program's poll site interpretation services are expanding from 12 to 14 languages! At our April 30 Commissioners' Meeting, Commissioners passed a resolution to add Albanian and Greek — helping us better support more New Yorkers at the polls. Language access is essential to an inclusive democracy, and we're proud to continue expanding resources that help voters participate confidently and fully. Learn more about VLA at the link in our bio! 🔗

Last week in City Hall Park, we officially launched the Voting phase of The People’s Money — NYC’s citywide participatory budgeting process where residents decide how to spend public funds on community ideas. We heard from community leaders, advocates, artists, and New Yorkers directly involved in shaping this process — and celebrated new partnerships with cultural institutions throughout all five boroughs that will help bring The People’s Money to communities across the city. Plus, we debuted a special limited-edition “The People’s Money” ice cream flavor, matcha mango mochi — created in partnership with the Harlem-based ice cream shop @sugarhillicecream — which will be available at all three of their Harlem stores during the voting window! 🍦 As our Chair & Executive Director Dr. Sarah Sayeed said: “My big dream here is that we make New York City a leader in participatory budgeting.” Let’s make it happen! Vote now at the link in our bio or at on.nyc.gov/pb 🗳️

If you had access to $4 million of the New York City budget, what would you spend it on? This is not a hypothetical question. This is #ThePeoplesMoney — NYC’s citywide participatory budgeting process that allows residents to directly decide how a portion of public funds are spent in their communities. Thousands of New Yorkers submitted ideas for community projects this fall, and now you get to decide which will become reality! Cast your vote at the link in our bio or on.nyc.gov/pb through June 21! 🗳️

What would YOU do with $4 million of the NYC budget? 👀💸 That’s the power of #ThePeoplesMoney — New York City’s citywide participatory budgeting process where everyday New Yorkers help decide how a portion of public funds are spent in their communities. 🗽🗳️ As DoSomething CEO DeNora Getachew @democracyninja steps into her new role as Commissioner of the NYC Civic Engagement Commission @nyccec , this work reflects a shared belief: young people and local communities deserve a real voice in shaping the future around them. Thousands of residents already submitted ideas for projects across the city — now it’s time to vote on which ones become reality. Cast your vote through June 21 at on.nyc.gov/pb ✨
