A new exhibition at Living Arts Lab opens tomorrow!
Khissā (Maithili for “tale” or “story”) by Nupur Choudhary presents a collection of drawings created over a year of ethnographic fieldwork in rural northern Bihar, India. Emerging from two years of engagement, the exhibition traces journeys, memories, and stories shared by women of the Mithila region through visual and sonic expressions.
Nupur Choudhary is a PhD Candidate at the NUS South Asian Studies Programme.
From campus rehearsal rooms to regional stages, NUS students are elevating their artistic practice beyond Singapore, through the arts-focused STEER (Study Trips for Engagement & EnRichment) programme.
Part of the NUS Arts for All framework, the STEER experiences are shaping new perspectives on tradition, creativity and careers in the arts.

NUS Symphony Orchestra (@nussymphonyorchestra ), together with students from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (@ystconservatory ), took their music to Malaysia on their first Study Trips for Engagement & EnRichment (STEER) programme journey.
From 23 Feb to 1 Mar 2026, NUS students engaged with a range of regional partners including Chung Hwa High School, Sunway University and the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra through outreach performances, workshops, masterclasses, and industry visits.
The experience culminated in a sold-out performance at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, where they shared the stage with musicians from Sunway University and the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
More than a tour, the journey offered a deeper understanding of collaboration, cultural exchange, and the wider arts ecosystem.

NUS Piano Ensemble returned to the NUS Arts Festival stage on 28 Mar with 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗖𝗛 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗝𝗼𝘆𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲.
The theme Joyeuse, meaning joy and happiness, guided the ensemble’s programming choices across classical, modern, jazz, and folk traditions.
This year’s concert also celebrated the legacy of the late Mr Tan Kah Tee, who passed away in Dec 2025. A longstanding supporter of the arts, Mr Tan had generously donated two Yangtze River grand pianos to NUS Piano Ensemble in 2022, giving more students the opportunity to enjoy music playing in the co-curricular space. We were honoured to have Mrs Tan present at the concert.
The concert opened with William Gillock’s 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘢, an 8-hands work performed across three pianos, including one of the donated Yangtze River pianos. Bright and celebratory in character, the piece was chosen to reflect vitality, generosity, and the spirit of giving — a thoughtful nod to Mr Tan’s lasting contributions.

Our heartiest congratulations to the NUS Lion Dance troupe @nusliondance for an incredible showing over the weekend at the NTU Institutional Lion Dance Competition 2026 (4 April 2026). 🦁✨
Competing in both the Female and Tertiary categories, our teams delivered strong, confident performances — and clinched first runner-up in both divisions.
This achievement caps off a vibrant semester for the troupe, who made appearances at the Spring Reception 2026 by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, and the Istana Open House during Chinese New Year.
Wishing the team all the best as they continue to grow from strength to strength. 💪🏻

✨ Constellations: Under Starlit Skies — A Night to Remember ✨
As we look back on this journey, we are reminded of how vast the universe is — and yet, how meaningful each of our lives can be under the same starlit sky.
Through music, we danced the rhythms of life, felt the warmth of summer and the hush of moonlight, journeyed through dreams and imagination, and embraced both the highs and lows that shape us. Like constellations, each note, each performer, and each moment came together to form something greater than ourselves.
This concert would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our performers, the guidance of our mentors, and the support of everyone behind the scenes. Most importantly, thank you to you, our audience, for sharing this night with us 💫
✨ May the music stay with you — reminding us that even in the vastness of the universe, we are all deeply connected.
With heartfelt gratitude,
NUS Guitar Ensemble & NUS Harmonica
