For Naomi Hawksley @num.nuum , drawing moves beyond the surface and becomes a presence in space, staging an intimate and slightly misaligned encounter with the self. Inside a doll’s cradle, the image remains close yet never fully accessible, revealing identity as something that brushes against itself without ever fully coinciding, through small frictions and fragile balances.

Naomi Hawksley amplifies her rigorous drawing practice by pairing her drawings with found sculptural objects. Her wall works feature dreamlike graphite images on vellum ensconced in dolls’ bedframes, thus reinforcing the intimacy of dream images.
See Hawksley's work at our booth at NADA Miami, booth C300.
