Rotina is a sturdy modernist sans with a playful secret. Built on the foundation of a clean utilitarian neo-grotesque, Rotina is a Swiss army knife of tools that brings workhorse fundamentals, robust utility, and a heavy dose of aura to your daily design routine.
The first collaboration between Sharp Type and NuForm, Rotina was conceived by Erik Marinovich from two worlds: the meticulous order of type design and the freehand intuition of lettering. It began with dead stock Letraset sheets, cut apart, rearranged, and redrawn, where the joy of manipulating form first took root.
That same curiosity lives on in a typeface engineered for contemporary use yet grounded in analog discovery. Rotina feels both grown up and impulsive, a structured experiment that never forgot how to improvise.
With Standard, Swash, and Script families (each in both Standard and Tight versions), Rotina balances precision and play, structure and expression. Every letter carries a quiet tension, part modernist engineering, part human gesture. 🖋️🌀🖊️

It’s now NuForm tradition and good luck (I’m superstitious) to announce next releases by setting it with New York City first. Because, if it doesn’t look good set in those three words it’s not worth making or so I think.

The swag maxed Swash family brings Rotina’s signature style to the forefront, capturing Erik Marinovich’s initial proof of concept sketches into a system that gives designers the ability to simply type out breathtaking lettering compositions and watch the magic happen. 🌀🌀
The typeface comes with swash capitals as default, with more detailed and intricate forms in the upper and lowercase accessible through OpenType features.
Like the rest of the family, Rotina Swash is plug and play, but the best results come from tinkering with compositions and choosing forms situationally. 🧩

Who doesn’t love setting type tight? We love it so much we decided to do the hard work for you.
Each style in Rotina is a two-for-one, including both a standard spacing and a fully tracked in tight variation for ultra crisp, mouth watering, tight-but-not-touching lockups.🫸🏼🫷🏼These otherwise identical Standard and Tight spacing versions allowed us to include a full tracking axis on all 3 variable fonts.

With their respective backgrounds as a freehand lettering maestro and a graffiti artist, Erik Marinovich and Lucas Sharp shaped Rotina Script through a collaborative back-and-forth, honing a style that felt natural alongside the more conservative Roman without making a fool of itself.
Complete with its own special extra scripty set of swash capitals, Rotina Script balances spontaneity and structure in equal measure. For when a standard italic just won’t cut it, Rotina Script brings a lugubrious informality that oozes with swag. ⚖️⚖️
