⚡️COMING TO LONDON THIS MONTH!⚡ #BendingReality blends TED Talk-style insights with contemporary dance, circus, and playful visual and sound illusions. BeND YoUR RealiTY on // 29th+30th May // Jacksons Lane // 7:30pm 🎫 ---> #linkinbio // BOOK YoUR TicKeTS ToDAY What if everything we see is a construction? This brand new show explores how perception and memory shape our understanding of reality. Here are some surprising facts we discovered during our research: 🧠 You lose around 50% of a memory’s accuracy each year. After five years, nearly 97% is gone — and your brain invents the rest. 🌍 The Earth spins at 40,000 km per second — yet we feel completely still. 👁️ We see the world upside down — our brains flip it back for us. Directed by Spanish choreographer Neus Gil Cortes, Bending Reality is atmospheric, physically daring, and visually rich, transforming the stage with sculptural costume by Isabel Castro-Jung and video design by Ben Glover, creating a space where reality feels fluid and layered. Accessibility is at the heart of the show, with creative captions, sound-reactive visuals, and Woojer vests available to experience sound vibrations — making it especially welcoming for deaf and hard of hearing audiences. 🎫 🪄 BOoK NoW // for the ultimate collision of Circus, Dance and Design! BeNDiNG ReALiTY // 29+30 May // @jacksons_lane BeND YoUR ReALiTY // Our brains don’t just perceive reality; they reconstruct it, piecing together fragments of experience, memory, and expectation. What if what we see isn’t all there is? What if the way we look shapes what we find? This performance invites you to step into a world where certainty might be an illusion. Through extreme physicality that integrates dance, circus, and parkour, this show reveals reality as a series of shifting perspectives and questions. With innovative design at its core, a sculptural dress by @isabel_castro_jung reshapes the space, while @bengglover video design captures the moments between what is seen and what is imagined. --- Art work: Patricio Forrester a.k.a @artmongers Incorporating image: Paul Fuller a.k.a @pf_photographer Graphic design: Steven Nicolaides @lucumamagazine ---- @jacksons_lane @jacksons_lane #worldcircusweek #circus #dance #design #visualarts @aceagrams @theplacelondon

Trump said “a whole civilisation will die out tonight” One might brush it off as one more of Trump’s provocations But I find it quite scary that a president can say that without consequences Who Do You Think I Am is a solo created by migrants Looking at the meeting of cultures as a social experiment in bias And what happens to the body, the struggle and the growth #workinprogress #outdoorart #interactiveperformance

Amazing day of R&D with the incredible @ttomasbriones for a new outdoor solo- Who Do You Think I Am? A privilege to chat through ideas about our experience as immigrants, how we are perceived, how it feels to be alone in a new country, what it asks from your body, the moments where you think you can’t go any longer and then overcome them and there is a new growth... And I think we coined a new word for the physicality we explored: “exprimir” something like wringing out (see first image! 😅) Thanks for always stepping up to the challenge with your humble playfulness and extraordinary technique Tomas! Looking forward to bringing @bengglover into the studio for Augmented Reality interactivity next 🤩

Let’s talk about guilt. We feel guilty for not resting enough. And then guilty for resting instead of sending the email. As dancers: – For not going to every audition – For going to auditions we knew weren’t right – For not pushing hard enough – For pushing too hard As choreographers: – For seeing friends instead of seeing a show – For not seeing friends enough – For almost burning out – For not using the train journey to draft that Arts Council England application – For not explaining our boundaries – For not holding them Here’s the thing. Guilt is not feedback. It doesn’t clarify your priorities. It doesn’t improve your leadership. It keeps you fixated on what’s missing — and paralyses you into self-criticism. And yes, there are systemic tensions here. We are told to rest, to avoid burnout. But if we don’t apply for funding, email programmers, coordinate collaborators, and prepare plans A, B and C — the work doesn’t happen. That pressure is real. It’s not just personal failure. But leadership isn’t about responding to pressure with panic. It’s about developing intentional awareness: – What actually matters today? – What is the best use of my energy? – What can wait? – What needs support? You already practise this in the studio. You assess capacity. You adapt to conditions. You work relationally. This is not about doing more. It’s about choosing with clarity. So I’m curious: Which feels hardest for you right now? – Assessing your energy – Accepting your limits – Asking for help Or — which one will you practise this week? If you want a space to think this through properly, you can book a 1:1 session with me. Leadership doesn’t mean doing it alone. #danceleadership #creativeleadership Filmed at @espailagranja

The Chat Room is back 💭 Come join uk UK-based choreographer, dramaturg, and teacher Neus Gil Cortés @nuadance 🫰 No Pain, All Gain? Rethinking Creativity Without the Chaos. Topic: Is Stress a Prerequisite for Genius — Or a Sign of Poor Leadership? Why do we so often accept that creativity has to be messy, stressful, or even painful? Is the myth of the tortured genius still shaping how we work—and is it helping or hurting the final result? Can strong leadership make creative work smoother and more impactful? Or does too much structure kill inspiration? Let’s debate what drives great art: chaos, control, or something in between. Neus is the artistic director of Nua Dance, a project-based company funded by Arts Council England, known for its bold integration of dance, circus, and visual design. A former dancer with Hofesh Shechter, NDCWales, and Dance Works Rotterdam, Neus has contributed to over 60 creative processes across Europe. Her work often explores perception, power, and the body, with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusion. Through Lead & Create @leadandcreate , Neus supports freelance choreographers with leadership training, mentoring, and peer-led dialogue. The platform includes a podcast, annual leadership programmes for both choreographers and teachers, and weekly resources tailored to the freelance dance sector. She has facilitated three Rethinking Leadership Conversations to date, bringing artists together to explore alternative models of leadership grounded in care, agency, and sustainability. Neus has also been invited to deliver leadership training sessions for Sadler’s Wells Young Associates, speak at a Dance Leaders Group conference, and contribute to other sector-wide initiatives. Book your spot via the Linktree in our BIO, and find out more Neus.
