Today, we honor and remember LTJG Aaron P. Fowler, whose name is engraved on the @nsomemorial Pillars alongside his fellow #NavyEOD brothers who were killed in the performance of their duties.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Aaron graduated from Union High School as a National Merit Scholar before entering the U.S. Naval Academy in 2012. While at the Academy, he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Arabic, and stepped away for two years to serve on a mission in North Africa. He returned to graduate with distinction as part of the Class of 2018 and was commissioned as a Naval Officer.
Following his commissioning, Aaron earned a Master’s degree in Arab Studies from Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies, where he focused on development and conflict in the Middle East and North Africa. He was driven by a desire to use his education and service in the U.S. Navy to strengthen relationships between the United States and foreign militaries.
In January 2022, after completing the rigorous Explosive Ordnance Disposal pipeline, Aaron reported to EOD Mobile Unit ONE in San Diego, California. On April 17, 2022, he tragically lost his life during a training exercise at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay.
LTJG Aaron P. Fowler’s name will forever be honored, and his story and sacrifice will always be remembered.
