This year’s theme, NOW NEXT invites you to immerse yourself in the present moment - to reflect on the world around us: its realities, challenges, politics, and possibilities.
Together, we’ll imagine the future of theatre: what do we want it to become? What risks will we take, what new forms will we create, and how can technology and experimentation shape what comes next?
NSDF champions emerging talent, provides space for bold ideas, sparks forward-thinking conversations, and keeps theatre connected to the world we live in - and the one we’re building.

With an incredible self directed, written and performed show T(EA)-BOY at NSDF26, their immense talent shone and we’re so excited to be able to support Amy in their next chapter.
A really incredible thank you to Blackout!
Blackout has supported NSDF for years, allowing us to dream big! For our 70th festival this year, Blackout provided us with all of the drapes used for the whole festival! Their generosity enabled us to drape up our blackbox studio, events and workshop venues, and our welfare space, as well as train the next generation of super drape tie-ers 💪
