Alumni, students, families, and friends gathered in the Hall Library on May 14 for the sixth annual Graduating Students of Color Luncheon. Keynote speaker Lisa Doi ’09 shared powerful reflections on identity, history, and how our experiences shape who we are and the communities around us. Drawing from family stories, personal experiences, and the Japanese concept of engi — the idea that we are shaped by the world that came before us and, in turn, shape the world that comes after us — Lisa encouraged students to recognize the impact they have on the spaces they enter and the generations that will follow them. She reminded graduates that “every student after you will only know the North Shore that was shaped by you,” encouraging them to embrace their voices, honor their stories, and move forward with purpose. Alumni Niabelle Comeau ’23, Meera Sinha ’02, Evelyn Gonzalez ’18, Ashleigh Palmer ’04, Naomi Hattori ’02, and Claudette Kankindi ’20 also joined in offering guidance, encouragement, and support to the graduating students.

From music and comedy to dance moves and surprise performances, yesterday’s upper school talent show brought plenty of energy, creativity and school spirit to the stage. This morning’s Annual Susan Marshall Concert featured mezzo-soprano Lauren Randolph, whose performance brought students through centuries of music and multiple languages. A Chicago native and Juilliard Kovner Fellow, Randolph shared both her extraordinary talent and the rich storytelling behind classical performance. Months of sunlight captured in a single frame. Using a pinhole camera made from a soda can, Jack L. ’26 created this series of solargraphs over the course of three months, tracing the sun’s path across the sky in striking and unexpected ways. As part of his AP Photography portfolio, Jack explored fluid and abstract motion found in everyday life, transforming time, light and movement into something entirely new.

Reese M. '26 has made her mark across every season. A four-year varsity athlete in basketball, soccer and track and field, she leaves NSCD with All-Conference honors in all three sports and an All-State finish in the 400 meters.
She now becomes the first Raider since 2016 to commit to competing in two sports at the collegiate level. We’re proud of all she’s accomplished and can’t wait to follow her next chapter.
