Alright, friends. Many of you have been asking about this for a while now and it finally feels like the time is right...
After a very long hiatus, we are ready to release a new season of the Bury Me in NJ podcast! This project was born during the pandemic, at a time when it felt important to have a dedicated space to talk about grief, dying, and everything in between. We released 25 episodes during the show's run from 2020 to 2021, with subjects ranging from palliative care, loss of a parent, child loss, infertility, and the grief that comes from divorce, among others.
A lot has changed since our last episode was released 3 years ago, but the need to have a space to talk about these topics has not. Especially now, at a time when so many people around the world are hurting, I feel called to revisit this project and give people the opportunity to share their grief experiences.
I've already been working on a list of guests for this upcoming season and have been thinking of how to focus these conversations in the context of what I've been learning as I pursue my Master's of Social Work from Temple University. In addition to speaking to people to learn about their unique grief stories, I also hope to highlight aspects of disenfranchised grief, or grief that is not recognized or validated by society's norms.
As much as I love this project and as excited as I am to resurrect it, there is also a lot of work and expense that comes with putting this together. In addition to paying for my website and podcast hosting (all of which I pay out of pocket, and have since the show launched to ensure people still have access to our past seasons), I also work with my producer
@nrumaczyk who has been with me since Day 1, reviewing and editing countless hours of audio to help produce a product that we're proud of.
Launching this Kickstarter is the first step in seeing if there's an interest/desire in re-launching this space for grief. If we're successful in reaching our goal of $1,850 by December 18, we plan to work on and release a new 8-episode season of the show early next year. The link to the Kickstarter is in my bio. Any help spreading the word is appreciated!
