Inscribing Spirit I
This project is very personal and dear to my heart. It represents my own self beginning and initiation into a more true version of the practioner that I am.
Inspired by various aspects of Nigerian literature and culture. Most notably Ògbójú Ọdẹ nínú Igbó Irúnmọlẹ̀ (Forest of a Thousand Dameons) by D.O. Fagunwa, the practice of Uli, in which women adorn each other’s bodies with signs and symbols as a way to prepare them for major events in their lives, and the invoking of spirits and deities in Ìṣẹ̀ṣe, ‘Inscribing Spirit’ combines, who I was within my ancestry, who I am now and who I am to become.
Using cloth that was used to make clothes for my Grandfathers funeral as a way to stay connected to my lineage and recent ancestors.

In Conversation with Davi Pontes: Using Dance and Movement as a tool for Self-Defence for the Black Dissident Body
What if dance could dismantle oppression?
We sit down with artist and choreographer Davi Pontes @davipontttes to discuss his collaborative project with Wallace Ferreira @patfudyda ‘Repetorio No. 1’, choreography as self-defence and the relationship between art and political resistance.
Repertório No. 1 premiered in London, co-produced by @serpentineuk and @danceumbrella , on 18th and 19th October 2025. The show will continue its journey internationally, with performances in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium in 2026.
