NOW Gallery invites you to the exhibition “Exquisite Corpse 10.0” opening next week Thursday, 23 April 2026 at 6pm.
This annual event is based on the game 'Exquisite Corpse' invented by Surrealist artists during the 1920s. It involves the participation of a group of artists, where each artist contributes to a single image. This year is our 10th anniversary edition and forms part of our Microfighters Event and Workshop Series.

Tatenda Magaisa is a Johannesburg-based artist, writer, researcher and cultural producer. Her work explores themes pertaining to global cultural interaction, Black women in popular culture, as artists and/or practitioners in Africa and the foregone conclusion of surplus labour under a culturally dominated society.
The curator of the exhibition, Gontse Mathabathe (@gontsemathabathe ) will host the event, alongside the artist.

Magaisa is currently in residence at BLVCK BLOCK (@blockblvck ) within the Creative Uprising Hub (Transwerke) at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg.
Drawing from prevalent visual material in popular and digital culture, her research and practice is rooted in an exploration of art practised under irreconcilable conditions. Magaisa works across painting, print, text and video sourcing imagery from horror, fantasy, and science fiction in film and literature, using these genres to explore broader themes of continuous unsettlement and unease.
