Who’s at fault for this football club constantly failing on the big stage? The obvious scapegoat is always the manager & it always will be, however you can not tell me Unai Emery & Arsene Wenger aren’t good managers, or even Arteta in the short time we’ve seen of him. They’re all great coaches so why could the two managers before Mikel Arteta not sort this mess out? In my opinion, because the problem lies far deeper than just the man in the dugout. The next set of people the fans like to blame is the ownership, which up to the last couple of seasons I would have agreed with. However the Kroenke’s have funded the moves for Pepe & Partey in recent seasons, as well as becoming a lot more involved in the everyday running of the football club. We need continued investment, of course, however in recent seasons they’ve showed they’re prepared to invest and as long as they keep that up, then the problem lies far deeper than just the ownership as well. The problem in my opinion? The team. The mentality. Winning the FA Cup last season papered over many cracks that still exist and have existed for many years. It’s going to take Arteta more than a year to sort this mess out which I’ve been saying from the start. It took Klopp almost 6 years to get Liverpool to where they are today. Mikel Arteta needs time, he needs to be backed & he needs to be supported by the fans. He’s a brilliant coach and one we need to continue to get behind. Unai Emery lost the dressing room and once that happens, then you’ve failed as a manger and your time is up. Mikel Arteta will not lose this dressing room because as the players have said before, they believe in him and they believe in his philosophy. As long as he keeps them believing, he can turn it around. One result against Spurs next weekend could turn everything around. I know it’s hard because we all want to see Arsenal back at the top again, but I’m telling you, give this man time because he’s the man that will get this football club back to where we belong. I’m confident he’ll turn it around and when he does I expect the apology to be as loud as the disrespect. #afc - Follow @now.arsenal2 for more!📲
