Mixed rep recap: First, thank you to my amazing collaborators, the dancers who performed this triple bill for over 100 audience members this past weekend. @olivianderson_ @akbayerr @re.mov.er @movement_journalsbymaia @versaillejonesdancer @juliekimster @jennklammer @beast.arneshuia @irxnesong @_brooke.thom_ @katiewatkinswasho I’m super excited to share that at least 25% of our audiences said that it was their first time watching concert dance (or even contemporary dance) live AND more importantly that this would not be the last dance show that they attend. Thank you community for showing up for us and sharing in the culmination of a 5 month process! It was such a gift to have the opportunity to revisit “Gyre” and “Momentary Impulse” and to dive deeper into the inspirations for the work, the music, and the movement with these incredible casts. Lastly, creating and premiering “Untitled” with these 10 dancers and having an outlet to share our fears, our hopes, and our collective grief was such a cathartic experience for me. I hope we all continue to open our eyes and don’t stop talking about the ongoing human rights violations currently happening across the world and in our own backyards. Meet the cast of Novoa Dances mixed rep: ✨Olivia Anderson✨ About Olivia: Originally from Tennessee, Olivia Anderson is a performing artist currently based in Atlanta, GA. Olivia earned her BA in Dance with a Modern Technique concentration and a minor in English from Brenau University. During her time at Brenau, Olivia had the honor of performing in cities across the United States in works by Jennifer Archibald, Larry Keigwin, Du’Bois A’keen, Julio Medina, Jesse Zaritt, and more. In addition to performing, Olivia’s choreographic work has been featured at the American College Dance Association SE Conference, the Brenau Summer Dance Intensive, the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, and with Gwinnett Dance Project.
