We’re excited to announce the release of the premier album by Nova Darkstar & their Invisible Band! Instrumentalisman is now available for streaming or purchase at your own price on Bandcamp :) Link in bio. Recorded from 2020 to 2025, Instrumentalisman features 13 instrumentals ranging in style from ambient, chill-out, and jam band to soul, funk, and rock. The album is a companion to Taking Shape, my solo exhibit at @thedrawkingston , which surveys my artwork of the same period. Taking Shape opens today, Saturday, from 5-7 PM. Taking Shape: Nova Darkstar is opening at The DRAW Gallery this Saturday, May 16th from 5-7pm.
Taking Shape, is an exploration of @nova_darkstar_ work between 2020 and 2025, including sculpture, video, collage, and painting. During that period of time, Nova went through their MFA degree program and came out as trans. Their art process bloomed alongside their self-discovery as Nova. Now, through their work, Nova aims to foster a celebration of transness and queerness to inspire audiences to wholly be themselves.

I'm thrilled to contribute to @chasonsokol 's residency and open studio at @mapspace this coming Saturday, 5/9 from 4-5 PM. I'll debut a new project called Nova Darkstar's Guitar Galactica, performing site responsive-ambient-improvised music. It'll be exciting to see and hear what emerges within the world of Martha's dynamic & expressive sculptures :) Over 30 artists will be participating in open studios that weekend, so lot's to see. I'm super excited about my upcoming solo exhibit @thedrawkingston , "Taking Shape." The show is a survey of my work from 2020 through 2025, a period of deep creative and personal transformation when I pursued my MFA degree and came out as a trans. During that time my art practice was a key means of unfolding and claiming my identity as Nova. This exhibit aims to create a space of play and wonder that celebrates queerness/transness and encourages all viewers to live the truth of who they are. Which I'm trying to do :) The show features sculpture, video, collage, painting, and xmas lights :) Co-curated by @shepardnusbaum !
