Betty Bazar Community Center is complete!
@kadrearchitects design converts a former diner in Woodland Hills into a vibrant net-zero community center, supporting healing and dignity for families on the path from homelessness to stability. Nous provided structural services for the transformative adaptive reuse.
@oca.arch , @plinthbuildco and @earthen_project.la with support from @nousla are hosting a compressed earth block rebuilding workshop, providing a fireproof and low-carbon alternative to conventional construction systems, yet still seismically safe and structurally permissible.

We’re honored that our Sun Villa Remodel received a Special Mention in the Residential Remodel & Addition category from Architizer.
Originally designed in 1950 by A. Quincy Jones as a “good, contemporary, low-cost” model home, the Sun Villa won the AIA’s Builder House of the Year award that same year. Our remodel honors this legacy by demonstrating how sensitive, low-impact design can adapt historic architecture to today’s needs—without compromising affordability or spirit.
Through minimal interventions, we expanded livable space while preserving the ethos of the original: lean materiality, indoor-outdoor continuity, and thoughtful restraint. It’s our contribution to a future where architecture is both accessible and enduring.

The Performance Pavilion at Luther George Park is complete! @cig_architecture , a specialized steel fabricator from the Netherlands, provided detailed calculations for Nous’ peer review and approval of the project. Nous provided code consulting and helped develop appropriate loading criteria and justify code compliant checks for the custom non-linear analysis of the surface. Structural engineering services also included coordination with the architect and local contractor.

Hot off the press!
New photos of the recently completed project situated across the street from Santa Monica's Memorial Park consists of a new two-story mixed-use program that includes retail and commercial space with one level of subterranean parking with stackers.
Total building size is 37,500SF including the deep basement. The design features an articulated heavy timber roof construction and large store-front facade panels to add warmth to the interior space and bring in daylight.

We began the UnStack House in 2018 on a steep unused hillside lot in northeast Los Angeles. The meticulous construction process required innovative design and engineering to shape a residence that rotates and shifts to weave landscape into the experience of the building.

"The Calling" in Saint Paul, MN in progress.
Designed by @andyscott.sculptures and fabricated by @dysonwomack , the art piece features a 90' wingspan and rises 32' into the air. Fabricated from thin stainless steel plate, a buckling analysis was used to determine where select interior bracing should be located to stand up to the elements.
