What a great day we’ve had today at Newark Showground for the County Show. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us about fire safety 👊🚒
Turns out our April Fools joke was too good not to make real too… Our new Junior Driving Licence has already been proving popular with some of our youngest visitors ❤️
Huge thanks to Newark Fire Station & Tuxford Fire Station for attending, too!
We are currently in attendance at a recycling fire in Dunkirk, following a call at 4.22am. Please avoid the area whilst our crews deal with the incident.
For those locally who can see or smell the smoke, please keep your doors and windows closed.
This time last week, we were delighted to be part of the Festival of Fire Sport, hosted by South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, which took place over Wednesday and Thursday.
On Day One, Firefighter in Development Amy Wells proudly represented NFRS in a Table Tennis match, competing as part of the GB Fire Service Table Tennis Team against the Team GB Paralympic Table Tennis Team 🏓
The competition continued on Day Two, with Retired Station Manager Martin Molloy, Firefighter Ryan Wheatley and Crew Manager Lou Needham taking on the first Festival of Fire Sport UK Firefighter Challenge. Their commitment and determination paid off, bringing home bronze medals in both the Male 55–59 and Female 35–39 categories 🥉🧑🚒
UPDATE - 11:00 - TUESDAY 21 APRIL 2026⚠️
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is still in attendance at the incident in Sutton Bonington, after the fire broke out on the Hathernware Industrial Estate on Wednesday 15 April.
Fire crews are still working hard to extinguish the fire, however we're expected to be on site for the remainder of today at least. Further updates on this will be issued in due course.
There's been reports that local residents can still smell smoke as a result of the fire. In conjunction with Rushcliffe Borough Council, we want to remind people to keep their doors and windows closed.
We're sorry for any inconvenience caused - thank you for your cooperation whilst we continue to deal with the incident.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service's new Compartment Fire Behaviour Training unit has reached an important milestone, with firefighters from Carlton and Edwinstowe Fire Stations becoming the first two crews to train in the facility 🔥
The introduction of this unit - which is also known as the 'Attack Box' - follows a review of training provision at the Service Development Centre, which identified a need to deliver this training in-house.
Both crews experienced a fully developing fire during their training, which is shown in these photos, where temperatures reached 462.9 degrees 😲

She did it!! 🔥
Crew Manager Lou Needham has completed the Fire Walk 2026, conquering Snowdon in full fire kit and breathing apparatus in brutal conditions, beating a 40-year family record in the process! 💪🏔️
An unbelievable effort for PTSD 999 and the National Red Plaque Fire Service Memorial.
Well done Lou - you smashed it and we're proud of you!
Some more recruits join Stapleford Fire Station but this time they're built for the water!🌊
Firefighters are now training with new advanced water‑rescue dummies, following investment in specialist Ruth Lee equipment designed to behave just like a real drowning casualty.
Arriving at the perfect time, the lifelike dummies were recently used during open‑water training exercises and water‑safety community events, helping crews sharpen their skills in realistic, high‑risk environments. Unlike standard manikins, these dummies float vertically with only the head and shoulders visible, accurately replicating how an unconscious person appears in the water.
