'...the thing with feathers' has been out for a little over 2 weeks now, massive thanks to those who have been moved to reach out to me with incredibly kind and beautiful words about this music. It means a lot to hear that it is resonating. Today I'd like to highlight and thank the incredible friends and collaborators who have made this EP what it is: 🎤 @ellenbethabdi (Multitudes) - one of my best friends and insanely talented. Thanks for keeping this music legal! 🎹 @tomharrisisacommonname (Late, Somehow I Knew, Too Soon) - they're another of my closest friend and probably closest musical collaborators across all the music I make. 🎤 @momentswithmnq (Floating) - such a wondrously creative soul 🎤 @markmenziesmusic - uber lovely man with such a powerful timeless voice and clearly writes from the heart. 📝 @niamhfeeneymusic - an inspiring all round musician with the midas touch. I wanted to try something a little different with Sunday Rains by bringing together two artists from different parts of my network. I asked Niamh to write something for it, sharing some of the themes and she captured the feeling so perfectly! 🎤 @memegold - I then brought the song to Meme, we worked on some music together a while back so it was so lovely to reconnect. I knew she wasn't just gonna sing the song but actually feel it, understand it and approach it with honesty. She's soooo gifted it's actually not fair. 🎤 @laooood - another ultra talent who does everything with honesty, authenticity and a healthy dose of playfulness and openness. Never one to rehash ideas, each take she did felt like a new song. 🎸 @andypatt_ (Too Soon) - another long time friend. A groovy low end shaper and genius. Absolutely know how to make things feel good whilst keeping it so interesting. 🫡 @thelenzman - the biggest thank you goes to TNQ head honcho, brother and mentor. Working with Teije over the last couple of years has been life changing, and the belief he has in me is endlessly inspiring. After a run of warmly received singles, Note presents …the thing with feathers, out this Friday on The North Quarter. 🪶 Experienced as a full body of work, the EP unfolds as a cohesive, immersive journey… where genre and tempo fade away. Jazz harmony, fluid rhythm and futuristic Drum & Bass textures sit naturally alongside one another, allowing the music to be felt rather than categorised. The project marks a defining moment in Note’s artistic evolution. With the long-held support of Lenzman and The North Quarter, he steps confidently into his own sonic space… focusing not on BPMs or labels, but on identity, craft and emotional clarity. Written during a period of profound personal loss, this is Note’s most intimate work to date.
