Festbier moving to pitch lined barrels to sleep in the lagering cellar all summer long. Pouring only at the Notch Oktoberfest in Salem and Brighton in September.
The Valley Czech Pale Lager Returns!
Jalowetz Pilsner Malt from Valley Malt in Massachusetts meets all the classic lager production methods Notch painstakingly employs. When these techniques meet this malt, the resulting big bready maltiness shines in such a modest ABV beer (4.4%). Additionally, this beer is fermented with a blend of two classic Czech yeast strains from Plzeň; one of which was cast off to the dustbin of history in the name of modern efficiency. We are suckers for such revivalist efforts.
Pair the Valley with a sausage (or a Pizza Project pie in Brighton, who just happens to use grain from Valley Malt), throw some darts, and pretend warm weather may soon be with us.
SALEM BIERGARTEN UPDATE!
Today, Monday April 27th, begins our biergarten work to improve accessibility and add a little more greenery. We will most likely need to restrict access to the biergarten this week, and we will keep you updated on a daily basis.
Metric isn’t a system, it’s a lifestyle.
