When you finish an ironman, you definitely aren’t thinking straight. I have absolutely no idea why i shook this woman’s hand. 😂 Lets see some of your comments below as to what you think must have been going through my mind to shake her hand!? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Great fun at the @greatyarmouthroadrunners 5 miler yesterday evening. Can’t beat throwing the odd race into your training to take you out of your comfort zone and get a hard training stimulus. 4th place and 25:20 for me yesterday. Felt awesome until 6k and then just fell off a bit really, the difference i guess between being fresh and able to push it all the way to the line and a training race. Unfortunately my camera died 6k in! #triathlon #ironman #running #ironmantraining #training

Can’t beat a bit of time trial action. @vcnorwich 25 mile tt. 1st place and 50m 45 for me, an ok ride for the start of a training block but definitely not as good as my last time trial. Gove it another 3-4 weeks and I think I will be in a great place. Positive was that the time I did today on the course in the conditions that we had was really good for the power so thats a big positive. #cycling #timetrial #ironmantraining #ironmantriathlon

Back in full training, full steam ahead to Ironman Cairns! In the build up to Cairns my objectives are keep doing what I am in the swim and just aim for consistency and to execute the sessions as they are set out. On the bike I have a few road races and time trials lined up. The road races work well as very hard surgy long rides which you just can’t simulate by yourself and the time trials are great at holding a very high power output for quite a ling period of time. My next time trial will be on Sunday, its 25 miles and hopefully will take me around 50 minutes, i found that after doing these events in the lead up to Irpnman South Africa I felt great and my durability on the bike was probably the best it has ever been which enabled me to run a lot better than I probably should have with my limited run training. So the main focus and where I see myself making the biggest step up in performance is getting some quality long runs in, ideally 27-32 kilometres with a significant portion of it at a faster pace than race pace. In South Africa it was the fatigue in my quads which forced me to slow down so with some consistent long runs and some targeted S&C I think I could run very well off the bike in Cairns. #triathlon #ironman #running #ironmantraining #ironmantriathlon

Back home to Norwich and the dust has settled from Ironman South Africa. Really, really pleased to be back on the podium and finish 2nd and do what I would consider a decent performance. I felt strong all day until the last 10km of the marathon when my lack of long runs caught up with me but that will be sorted for the next Ironman. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the messages it means a lot and I have personally read every single one. Also thanks to all the other athletes that were racing for the support you were giving me even while racing yourselves that meant a lot to me and really motivated me to keep digging in. Next up for me is a toss up between Ironman Austria and Ironman Cairns, having a think to decide what one. Austria is much easier to get to but I prefer the Cairns course. Out of interest what race do you guys think I should do? 📸 @ironmansouthafrica #triathlon #ironman #ironmantraining #ironmantri #running

Great weekend for TRI Swim Club athletes! Joe Skipper delivers a massive performance, finishing 2nd at Ironman South Africa and qualifying for the Ironman World Championship 🌺 Meanwhile, AG athlete Caleb Moller throws down at Ironman Texas, completing his first ever Ironman in under 11 hours. From first finishes to world championship qualification—this is what we’re building. 👊 #Ironman #Triathlon #KonaBound #SwimTraining #TriSwimClub

Out the other side. After what has felt like an eternity of bad luck and poor performances on the day, @notanotheraveragejoe has finally just managed to put down a great result at #ironmansouthafrica This is a long time in the making with gruelling sessions and races all in the effort to hopefully, finally return to form. Above are a selection of photos from the recent training block which lead to this result, all with accompanying YouTube videos and which we also work so hard on.

Awesome days training, last big one on the lead up to Ironman South africa. 2 road races which ended up being around 3h 40 at 355w np and then a 16k run at 3.41 pace on a windy hilly course. After this will now take things a bit easier and look to freshen up as the hard work all seems to be done now. One thing I definitely noticed was when in full Ironman training it’s very hard to really have that zap that you need in the legs for the top end efforts. All in all a great training day and really fun. #triathlon #ironman #running #ironmantraining #training
