Hampir setahun rasanya sejak kami bertemu dengan Aqilah, Matiin, Qays, dan Gavin. Kuartet bernama Nosedive dari Singapura itu kami jumpai di Jakarta pada Januari lalu, ketika mereka sedang menjalani rangkaian tur bertajuk “Nosedive Ke Nusantara ‘25” di beberapa kota. Nosedive sendiri adalah band shoegaze, yang membentuk karakter suara mereka lewat vokal mengawang serta raungan gitar penuh distorsi dan delay, dimainkan sambil menunduk menatap sepatu atau pedal efek di atas panggung. Yap, deskripsi yang terus-menerus diulang oleh mayoritas media arus utama ketika menggambarkan genre tersebut…
Kala itu Nosedive tampil dalam perhelatan yang digelar kolektif bernama “Fensghui”. Bermain di sebuah kafe dengan bekas garasi sebagai panggung utamanya. Mereka tampil energik dan berhasil menarik beberapa penonton untuk ikut larut dalam suasana, meskipun kami cukup yakin 90%-nya baru tahu nama Nosedive lima menit sebelumnya. Jujur, belum banyak yang bisa ditemukan dari katalog mereka di berbagai DSP: hanya satu mini album dan satu single kolaborasi terbaru dengan Sun Cell. Entah karena kesibukan atau alasan lain, namun nama mereka tetap terasa punya potensi yang layak diperhitungkan, mengikuti jejak beberapa pendahulu mereka yang lebih dulu beredar hingga masuk radar Internasional.
Di sela-sela waktu senggang, kami sempat berbincang tentang banyak hal: mulai dari tur yang sedang mereka jalani, hingga obrolan ringan yang akhirnya mengarah pada ajakan untuk menjadi narasumber kami. Dan rasanya memang hampir setahun juga draft perbincangan ini tersimpan rapih di Google Drive, melewati berbagai revisi konsep yang berubah dari waktu ke waktu hingga akhirnya momen yang pas itu datang juga.
