We were at Middlesbrough Town Hall for the premiere of Series 2 of Smoggie Queens 👑 We’re excited to see the award-winning @bbc comedy return this spring - once again set and filmed right here in Middlesbrough. Written by BAFTA-nominated Middlesbrough native Phil Dunning, the new series brings the gang back to the Boro for even more chaos 💥 Series 2 also features some familiar North East faces, including local stars Jeff Stelling, Chris Kamara and Steph McGovern. Productions like this highlight the growing strength of the North East’s screen industry - creating jobs, attracting investment and showcasing the incredible talent we have here in the region. We’ve supported Smoggie Queens and many other productions through the North East Production Fund alongside our partners at @northeastscreen 🎬

What a fantastic night! Cast, crew and local stakeholders gathered at @tynesidecinema last night for a preview screening of The Fortune - a new @channel5_tv drama produced by North East based @lonesomepinetv and distributed by @sphere_abacus 🎬 Filmed entirely in the North East and supported by the North East Production Fund, the production employed 49 local crew, with multiple trainees and step‑ups supported through North East Production Fund and Access programmes, and was based out of @thenorthernstudios in Hartlepool. Gayle Woodruffe, Operations Director at North East Screen, thanked the cast and crew for their work and commitment to making productions in the North East, before host Sam Wonfor put questions to the panel - Eleanor Tomlinson, Callum Woodhouse, writer Ash Ditta and Director of Photography James Cook. A brilliant evening celebrating the depth of talent behind the scenes and on screen here in the North East 👏 You can watch The Fortune on 5 later this spring. -- North East Screen Industries Partnership is funded by the @northeast_ca & @teesvalley_ca

More North East stories. On the @bbc . Made in the region by the people of the region. That’s what our new partnership with the BBC means. They’re committing £40m to programmes and events across the North East. What that really means, is that those with the talent and the ambition don’t have to go to London. They can do it here!
