A street drinker has been banned from entering parts of Ilfracombe, Barnstaple and Bideford after being handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), following a successful prosecution from North Devon Council. Kevin Trigg, aged 39 and of no fixed abode, was found guilty of failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice at a hearing at Barnstaple Magistrates' Court on Friday 8 May 2026. Trigg was served a Community Protection Notice on 11 February 2026, following repeated incidents of antisocial behaviour. He has been involved in a string of incidents of criminal and antisocial behaviour since then, requiring substantial intervention from police in Bideford and Ilfracombe. The CBO prevents Trigg from entering the Public Spaces Protection Order areas in Ilfracombe, Barnstaple and Bideford, as well as Hele Beach and Rapparee Cove. There are also conditions around his behaviour in public places, with the CBO banning him from littering, urinating or defecating, leaving drug paraphernalia, being intoxicated or in a state of undress and acting in a manner which is threatening or intimidating to members of the public. The CBO was supported by the North Devon and Torridge Community Safety Partnership Team, which includes both North Devon and Torridge district councils and Devon and Cornwall Police.

Just a reminder on what to line your caddy with! You can use newspaper, kitchen roll, or a bag (plastic, paper, or compostable) - this helps contain the food waste and is more hygienic for you and our recycling crews. All liners are mechanically separated from the food waste and recycled if possible or converted into energy via an energy from waste plant. If you line your caddy with a bag, why not use an old cereal or bread bag to give it a second use? ♻️ If you want to buy compostable caddy liners, they are available at local supermarkets or online. The kitchen caddies take 7-litre bags, and the kerbside caddies take 23-litre bags.

North Devon remembers VE Day 🇬🇧 At 10am this morning Councillors and Officers came together to honour those who volunteered, sacrificed, served, fought and died for our freedom. The flag that marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe last year is flying at Brynsworthy Environment Centre, serving as a symbol of remembrance and reflection on the sacrifice made for peace. In 2025 the people of North Devon came together on Capstone Hill to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE and VJ Day. Our Parks team created this stunning piece of grass art, with residents gathering to help fill the letters for this special photograph in Ilfracombe. A huge thank you to everyone who took part to create this memorable moment, and special thanks to Scott Bingster for the fantastic drone photography capturing the moment from above. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Gladioli may have started in South Africa, but now they’re loved all over the world. These ones in Jubilee Gardens are Gladiolus byzantinus. They grow well in drained soil, are fully hardy, and come back every spring with bright, beautiful flowers. Simple, reliable, and always a great display 🌸

Deep purple flag irises stealing the show in the herbaceous border at Bicclescombe Park 💜 Their name comes from the old English word flagge, meaning reed or rush - a nod to their origins, as early irises thrived in wetlands.
