"When Ben first played me "Everything is Personal," I knew it was the one I wanted to shoot a video for. The song is buoyant and warm and shot through with light, so I naturally thought of his apartment. There's no set decoration whatsoever...the drums really are right next to the stove, they actually practice in the kitchen while the water boils. Art and life, all muddled up together. I sent my friend Martin Parsekian, the cinematographer, videos for The Verlaines' "Death and the Maiden" and the Go-Betweens' "Your Turn My Turn" for inspiration, and he shot it so beautifully on a couple different film stocks. We packed up our lights and lenses, said goodbye to the band, and walked down the stairs to the sounds of a new song brewing behind Ben's door..." - Michael Stasiak

So my movie is done. Please see the link in my bio! I never wrote a screenplay before, never shot on 16mm, never directed actors and never edited a film longer than 5 minutes. But I worked with some of my closest friends and they all trusted me and kept me moving. So thanks to Jessi, Kent, Alexander, Risa, Jelani, Aaron, Joann, Malcolm, Yuto, Richard, Sam, Jonny, Jay, Peter, Sam, Michelle, Shawn, Sarah & Dhemerae.. love you all so much 😭 your trust in my vision is the greatest gift anyone has ever given me.
