Happy New Year ✨
2025 has been a meaningful year for Peninsula, Norm & Commons Farming, shaped by care, craft, and the people behind the work.
Our team grew to over 60 teammates, and we continued investing in learning through first aid training, professional wine education, and our first Hospitality Camp. These moments reminded us that great experiences start long before service begins.
We also hosted our first Campfire, creating space to share, learn, and grow together. We were grateful to be included in the Michelin Selected list ⭐️, a recognition of the values and care that guide our work. Earlier this year, we also welcomed a visit to our farm by Jabatan Pertanian Malaysia.
Looking ahead, new ideas are taking shape and three new locations are being thoughtfully prepared, all guided by the same principles that define Peninsula, Norm, and Commons Farming.
As we move forward, we do so with gratitude and humility. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. We look forward to continuing this journey and contributing, in our own way, to Penang’s culinary landscape✨
At Norm, growth happens quietly. In early mornings, busy days, and the small moments that shape who we are.
Today, we’re celebrating the people who’ve grown with us and continue to shape the spirit of our house:
C.K. Ng — House Manager
Leads with care and purpose, guiding the team and setting the tone for our journey ahead.
Lek — Assistant Manager
Brings ease and warmth to the floor, making every guest feel they belong.
Mei Ru Tan — Head Barista
Finds joy in every cup, serving coffee with patience, heart, and a genuine smile.
Lee Woon Teow — Design Lead
Shapes how Norm is seen and felt, turning ideas into stories that reflect our values and warmth.
Guang Soo Lee — Area Manager
Guides with kindness and clarity, helping every outlet grow with the same vision and care.
These aren’t just new titles, they’re small milestones built from effort, care, and a love for what we do every day.
Here’s to growing together, and to shaping the next chapter of Penang’s coffee story, one cup at a time.
This year marked our very first Annual Campfire 🔥🌲, a gathering of the Norm and Peninsula House teams.
It was two days filled with simple joys: cooking and sharing meals, exploring the outdoors, singing by the fire, and exchanging stories that remind us of who we are and why we do what we do.
In the glow of the firelight, we celebrated not only the moments of laughter and play, but also the bonds that continue to grow between us. With gratitude, we look ahead, renewed, connected, and ready for the journey to come.
At Norm, coffee is a continuous cycle of roasting, tasting, and refining. From the roastery to the bar, every step is rooted in care, consistency, and a constant drive to learn.
Our beans are roasted, cupped, and packed in-house, shaped by the people behind them and the conversations they spark.
Thank you for being part of our story, every single day. ☕️✨
Weekends at Norm have a rhythm of their own.
Full tables, familiar faces, new conversations, and the steady flow of coffee from morning through afternoon.
We’re always grateful to see the space come alive this way, shared by families, friends, regulars, and those visiting for the first time.
Thank you for spending part of your weekend with us.
We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

A small celebration, gently held.
We had the joy of hosting a kid’s birthday at Norm, an afternoon filled with warmth, laughter, and easy moments shared. Fried chicken waffles and fries, and brownie dessert cups made their way around the table, enjoyed by all.
Simple, meaningful, and quietly joyful.
Thank you for celebrating with us.

Some things are best learned slowly.
An internal brewing session led by our in-house roaster, sharing not just technique, but the small decisions that shape a cup. From grind size to pour rhythm, from aroma to structure, we take time to understand what we’re tasting, and why it matters.
We don’t rush the process.
We learn, we adjust, and we carry it forward into every cup we serve.
There’s something different about coffee after you’ve seen where it begins.
Following our visit to the farm, the team from Norm and Peninsula House came together to share, not just what we learned, but what stayed with us. Stories of the land, the pace of harvesting, the quiet decisions behind processing, and the people who shape each cup long before it reaches us.
It wasn’t a formal session, more a passing of perspective. Small details, re-seen. Familiar things, understood a little deeper.
We ended the afternoon the simplest way we know how, by brewing Liberica. Not as a showcase, but as an invitation to taste what we had just experienced, in its own honest way.
Thank you for being part of it.
