Our Japanese colleague Yuriko visited a traditional wagashi atelier known for creating one of Japan’s three great confectioneries.
Their signature sweet, Yamakawa, has been enjoyed for generations and reveals its true character when paired with matcha: delicate, softly dissolving, leaving an elegant finish that completes the bowl. Each piece is still made by hand, shaped with care, season, and experience.
Matcha is rarely enjoyed alone. The sweet you choose, and the season you’re in, are part of the ritual.
