A new season, Feb/March always feels like the year has begun for me.
& this year I’m returning to myself. It’s really special having your image taken and even moreso when it captures your essence.
Thanks @daveysexton 🎞️

Remembering Renn Miano's participatory peformance at Convergence festival where they challenged the contradictions of failure, identity and afro-futurism. Renn engaged with the audience, pulling members into their performance space to build the scene that hosted the issue they were tackling. The housing and cost of living crises They had people laughing and questioning about the reality we live in.
Renn Miano is 1 of 4 of BMR aka BlackmagicRawr – they are an afrofuturist performance and movement sonic rooted trio who are based between Lucan, Dublin and Wicklow. They are also a sonic artist who’s practice focuses on reclamation of spaces, with an ongoing theme of rest and play and resistance. In between that they can be found by the sea or working as a creative producer with an array of talents through Field Arts. Or styling or writing or sensitivity reading.

NEW TEXT MORE ANGER CUMINALATIVZ
And if it is a so called power then I’m angry that I’m so damn tired, my anger has brought me to full blown halt. State of stagnancy. Is that not the most common thing we have?
Such dread of reciprocity. Meet anger with anger? Can regression be hand in hand and transmitted/transmuted? Of course we are living through a period of warp. Making the same mistakes with worse outcomes than before. Completely shameless of the gifts right in front of us. We’ve gone so far away from the very stillness that grants us gratitude and respect for life, air, but how can you go on a journey of such when we don’t even have the fundamentals of shelter, food, etc. I read Sinn Féin’s housing proposal. It doesn’t look so shitty but still I am lost on hopes from that realm. We are our only answers but I’m so so tired and disconnected and distracted with my own internal affairs to reach anyone else’s mind except those reading this. Held onto tightly your name in my throat, HOPE, catching me like fear of a gun to my temples. Root of all evil, snide and sold, stuck like bread ate too too quickly, chips gone cold but I’ve become so greedy “chip chest?” Chocked on anger again and again and again full to completion, dehydrated tears make up the salt and vinegar. Hope cut off your breasts and stick them to mine, feeding off a healthy diet the choice everyday doesn’t feel like mine. Watch and donate and feening from a blood supply through the screen I learn of the horrors that we all own collectively. Cannot ignore this. Even if it’s easier to, feels kinder in the short term to to twos pretend that our big lives don’t touch and bounce off each other. Friction/fraction. But with every drop of % in the brightness 🔅 a renewed sense of urgency pours. I’m pushing and pulling my pours, pores opened, heating by the hour phone down to scour. Skincare at 2am and lock back in to the shower of this so called living. Through the texture of life.

Anger
—————— some text and thoughts on anger/resistance
Remember that your anger is your power, don’t let it be used against you. Anger is one of the purest emotions we can display. We all feel it. We all make silly attempts at suppressing it. But it’s something that can be fused and weaponised. It is a tool for distruction and at this time distraction from the greater imorals of our time. Wealth disparity, soil depletion, academic / knowledge limitations. These are all “norms” we have been conditioned to accept. Mechanisms that have played their roles.
I try my hardest to re jig the networks that allow me to function in ways that are maladjusted for humanity’s greater potential. It’s a constant upheaval. It’s letting things go and saying no to what at times can look like warped abundance. I give out to myself about things slipping past my control and then remember that alone I don’t have any more power than a child. It’s cathartic. It’s sustained it’s persistent. It eats away at everything around me. But my anger. That is immovable. So be angry. And use it with all your force. Together we can build the island we dream of. We don’t need to live in absolute brutality. The earth feeds us her soul everyday, whether or not we choose to let it rot. She continues.

Had an excellent time making boops and sounds for @bog_cottage - this came at the right time. I needed a break from ear droning noise the last few months and with our recent frog friend in the garden I became a bit obsessed with frog sounds and in general there slimy beauty. Of course this is reflected in the sound piece. Big love to Randa for listening to me complain about splice and being my ever loving work buddy. Thank you to Bog Cottage so much so much for letting me do my thing and explore! Luv yousss ❤️🌶️
Also this is my first time “showing” works in some form in Belfast so it’s a tiny / huge achievement for me personally. Thanks for lettinge@be ur mentee Sal. I know I’m annoying and stubborn so thanks for stepping back and in when needed and also for the equipment Tah bbz

Launch day! Our beautiful work has finally arrived at
We have gathered this research for you, our Black Queer community, to serve as a pathway to exploring your identity, specifically within the gender spectrum. This is a broad foundation of information that we hope will be helpful in looking at, deconstructing and reframing our current understandings of ourselves. The intention with House of Origin is to explore the vast number of possibilities for expression that exist within ourselves by removing the barriers and constructs that have been created and dictated by society. This project is about uncovering both the inherent brilliance, and the ability to transcend those barriers with a tenacity of spirit that exists both within us and the Black Queer people who came before us.
Tuesday is the new Monday.
Today I learned about book keeping, interestingly it has nothing to do with librarians. #knowledgeispower 🦌
