February 18th 2025 at 5.00 pm @msuzagreb Mateja Bučar (@mateja.bucar ) HURRY-SCURRY STAY IN LINE dance performance - 1 level, the space of exhibition 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, (𝗨𝗻)𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 At 18:00 the performance will be followed by a final guided tour of the exhibition by its co-curators Rok Vevar, Jasmina Založnik, and Tea Kantoci. Co-production: Cukrarna Gallery – Performativa and CoFestival in cooperation with Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, City of Ljubljana, Department of Culture, City of Zagreb, and Oblik prostora. The performance is conceived for a space with volume and special length that becomes appropriated by many highly distinct dancers forming a constant queue, or rather a clearly delineated line, which can endlessly wind, unwind, unfold, curve, stretch or contract, agitate or calm down… On the one hand, the austerity of a clear line, on the other, the complexity and the intricacy of the languages of movement and articulation, which weaves constantly one after the other, one next to the other, one before the other, swirling within the internally complex and externally utterly simple clarity of a single line. NADA — (Non)Aligned Dance Archive is a digital database and developing archive of contemporary dance and performative practices and works from the post-Yugoslavian region. It assembles and develops diverse perspectives and traces of artistic works and activities generally created and produced by formal and informal communities, collectives, and organizations working outside of the public arts and cultural institutions or in collaborations with them. This archive is the process of creating a memory, heritage, and discourse and it is a manifestation of a public time that reaches beyond the present moment, connecting communities, their artistic spaces, temporalities, and futures. It is the effort of the researchers and partner organizations who believe that artistic work is a common and collective endeavor that creates the (future) common. Because that is an ongoing process, we do not think of this exhibition as a final act or actualization of the material, but as one step towards sharing the relations we are building with the materials. We are showing it as a (un)working material, as a research space that is in its potentiality, not being there yet, or finished. We consider the archive as a living and developing temporality that is (can be) performed as the intersection of pluralities of space(s), memory, working materials, a body of knowledge, history, presence, future, friends(hips), policies, politics, resistance, resilience, love, enemies, silence, protests, dissonances, socialities, togethering, and much more that dance preserves, holds, produces as imagination and perspective. Therefore, this exhibition is one way of (un)working, reading, and sharing those intersections which are in front of us, with us at the moment. We think through this archive of the art of dance that the realm of aesthetics separates our dance contexts and reduces them mostly to theater products and kinetic differences which have never been our case of common interests. Our collaboration and interest have always been in the dance field which informs us about the arts, culture, society, and politics.
