As a composer, digital artist, and curator, Asta Norborg has spent years exploring electronic music as something far beyond the club or concert format. Through projects like Kallelse at Inkonst and Rendered Voice at Museum of Sketches, as well as her own work under the name FASCIA, Norborg has consistently moved through the intersections of sound, performance, technology, and the body. Alongside this, Norborg has been active across a range of artistic contexts, including as curator for the queer literature organisation PAGE 28 and as one of the producers behind the drag show Club Mermaid.
Last week she brought those threads together in THREADING, a new two-day festival in Malmö where workshops, artist talks, and performances explored what happens when biology becomes data, movement shapes sound, and the body itself becomes part of the instrument.
Before the festival I spoke to Asta Norborg about creating new formats for artistic learning, the evolving relationship between body and technology, and why the most radical ideas often begin from the hyperspecific.

I många år har det pratats om det utdöende nattlivet i Malmö. Hos kommunen, i folkmun och i medier – och inte minst mellan barer, klubbar och arrangörer – har man diskuterat de försämrade förutsättningarna och den skada det innebär för såväl stadsbilden som attraktiviteten, kulturen och näringslivet. I en rapport beställd av Malmö stad slogs det till och med fast att stadens nattliv var akut hotat.
I höstas inleddes ”PULSE” – ett arvsfondsprojekt mellan Inkonst och STPLN som under tre år ska stärka och lyfta fram klubbkulturen i Malmö. Projektet är uppdelat i tre delar. Strategen Pentti Igor Lindén (bland annat från Skyddsrum) driver ett påverkansarbete med målet att långsiktigt etablera klubbkulturen som en självklar del av Malmö. De andra två delarna är ett utbildningsprogram och ett mentorsprogram för unga klubbkollektiv mellan 18 och 25 år, som drivs av Inkonst.
Efter tio utbildningstillfällen, två dialogmöten med myndigheter och ett residens var det förra veckan dags för det sista kollektivet från den första omgången att bjuda in till sin kväll på Inkonst - Ztitch.
